Jordan Leen of Cornell and Jordan Burroughs of Nebraska met at the Las Vegas Invite finals in 2008 and battled to become champion. Jordan Leen was a defending national champion and Jordan Burroughs actually ended up winning the weight class this year. Jordan Burroughs vs Jordan Leen was an instant classic on Flowrestling.

This match was awful. The refs ruined the match. Great wrestlers.

One of the best matches on this site, and its amazing to see the evolution of Jordan Burroughs into the wrestler he is today!

Leen's top is great would have rode without the super early start

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

My god, Jordan Leen sucks. He is so freakin annoying.

Leen was a good wrestler but Burroughs just too much for him. Both guys had great careers

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

1. Possible caution missed, but Burroughs prob gets out even if they call the caution, eventually. There is nothing in this match or in historical performance that would lead me to believe Leen would ride Burroughs out.
2. Leen getting the riding point - doesn't matter how tough Leen is at riding, Burroughs doesn't get riden out by anyone (from Junior year on), so that is a bit of a stretch to assume he gets the riding point and Burroughs doesn't get the escape point. Not very reasonable to assume he gets the 1 minute of riding time, especially since Burroughs had a lil over 30 seconds of his own riding time to begin with. So he would have had to ride for well over a minute to gain the point.

BigRedGrad 1 year ago

well guys lets look at this:

Caution Missed - can you honestly say that wasn't a caution?
Leen getting the riding point - One of the toughest riders in the last five years, not a stretch at all to see him ride out the period.
Leen not getting held down - at this point in time Burroughs is no force on top and Leen is excellent on bottom.
Burroughs not putting up that over 3 Takedowns - Leen wrestling wide open and trying to catch up from behind and Leen holding his ground in defense is completely different. Much tougher to score on someone when they aren't opening up.
Sure I am a Cornell fan but also a big Burroughs fan, love his style and his attitude. I never said Leen would win 6-2, but 8-6 or 8-7 is very realistic. My post wasn't knocking Burroughs in the least - just wish the refs would have made the right call. Can you disagree to the above points? I would love to hear why not.

Bigred, Seriously, how many if/then statements can you jam into such a short post? Burroughs won the match 10-8, but somehow your hypothetical has Leen going into the 3rd period up 6-2. Does not sound very legitimate to me.

Pablo Escobar 1 year ago

I did read the post and nowhere does it say anything even close to what you are now claiming, in terms of a 8-6 or 8-7 win. Perhaps if I were a mind reader I could have better understood your post, which left a lot to be desired.

Also: " I don't think burroughs could put on that takedown clinic in one period" But now we are to assume he can get two takedowns and lose 8-6 or 8-7. If he can get two TDs in 1 period, it would be very reasonable to assume he could get that 3rd TD as well.
It would seem you are unaware of the "bigred" colored glasses you are viewing this match with. Every hypothetical you claim should have happened seems to fall in favor of Leen. Very legitimate indeed. lol

Amazing how you can take a loss by Leen and somehow try and say it should have been a 6-2 win at least.
if you actually read my post you would have noticed I never said that Leen would have won 6-2 only that he had a fair chance of going into the third period with a 6-2 lead. I think Burroughs gets two takesdowns in that situation and Leen gets two escapes making a final score of around 8-6 or 8-7 (if stalling was a factor). If you can't see that as a legitimate outcome of this match given the caution being called, then you don't know much about wrestling.

Burroughs is obviously a top wrestler in this video in 2008 but its amazing how much better he got every year... He developed a lot even from this match and he won the nationals this year... he's one of the few guys in NCAA who legitamately became better and more dominat every single year... very unique guy.

5:41 changed the whole match, the ref OBVIOUSLY missed the caution by burroughs. Leen is not easy to get away from and stood a fair chance at riding out the rest of the period - taking with him a 4-2 lead plus a riding time point. Burroughs does not hold down Leen in the third putting him up 6-2 with ride time. I don't think burroughs could put on that takedown clinic in one period. its a shame the ref didn't just own up to the mistake...

These refs blow

no 1 year ago

At 9:42 would the ref be required to call Burroughs for stalling? He isnt creating any action and is making contact and backing away. Obviously the big picture is that he is setting up Leen, but the new rule doesnt talk about the big picture. It gives very little room for interpretation.
Burroughs is trying to get back to the center so in other words........no.

hmmmmmmmmmmm... 1 year ago

at 8:34 would that be stalling?

At 2:08 would that be stalling under the new rule by Jordan Leen?

Questin 1 year ago

with the new rule does Jordan Leen get called for stalling at around 50 seconds? If so the new rule is bogus.

westle, you are completely wrong on all acounts. whatever you say should be stricken from the site. i wonder how well your tactics work compared to Leens. it seems to me like burroughs had his hands full. For someone to say that someone would win 10 out of 10 times after watching that match must be sta sta sta stupid

westle 1 year ago

Burroughs will win that match 10 times out of 10. And how could you call him for stalling, he is in on a reshot everytime you turn around. Leen on the other hand is the most irritating wrestler I have ever watched, EVER! Standing there with his hand on the mat and just staring, and then freaking dancing. Burroughs and Howe are the best 165 lbers in the NCAA, then Caldwell.

burroughs is such a this is the 5th match i have watched of him and all he does is runaway when he gets any kind of a lead..... In that match he for sure fled the mat.....Good wrestler no doubt just cant finish a match like a man...

stumjackson 1 year ago

this is proof that referees have too much of an influence on matches....its too subjective. Always has been always will be. The usual response to this comment is "take it out of the ref's hands".....well when two athletes are this closely matched...like many college matches...thats nearly impossible.
