and the behavior of the coaches is reflected in the way Suriano reacted to the call. Suriano is far and away one of the best and most competitive and most hardworking wrestlers in the country ((several times youth state champ) as is bierdumpfel and has been a consistent winner since he first started wrestling (as has bierdumpfel). Suriano was born wearing heargear and a singlet. His father was an excellent wrestler as was his older brother. But he hasnt learned to accept loss graciously primarily because he rarely loses and that his coaches havent taught him well in that area. Bierdumpfel in comparison also trains like a beast and has also been a consistent winner (several times youth state champ) as well but he has a better attitude towards competition and maintains sportsmanlike behavior. I predict that both (if not in the same wt class) will be NJ HS state champs.

apex coaches were top wrestlers both state and college (logan 3x NJ state champ - would have been first 4x but was injured - norgaard NJ state champ, not sure about wernikoff's wrestling record) and are excellent trainers but as mat-side coaches they are the biggest complainers and whiners when a call goes against their kids. They run all over the mats and are constantly chatting up the refs everywhere they go. Their behavior is captured on many videos. They have vast experience at the rec, high school and college level but would never coach like that if they were actually high school varsity coaches which they are not. They know very well what is appropriate behavior for mat-side coaches. They break the "bench decorum" rules constantly and should be hit with coach misconduct and unsportsmanlike more often. If they were, they would modify their behavior. As I wrote, they are some of the best trainers and wrestlers themselves and have coached some of the best wrestlers around NJ for years but that doesnt allow nor excuse their mat-side behavior which sets a poor example, makes their kids feel entitled, and incites the crowd.

All the kids and coaches were pointing to the free ankle like "NO WAY!" We can all agree that they wouldn't be walking out there pointing to the free ankle if it had been captured. NO MATTER WHAT, the ref blew the whistle too soon.He blew it the second the kid jumped for the foot. BAD CALL. NO 2!!!

I checked the Apex wrestling school website just now.
1) IDK what you have to say, but their coaches are awesome.
2) It sounds like you are obsessed with one individual. Is that jealousy or has he wronged you in some way?
3) You can see all of these kids training in their room even on multipul days.
4) It's true what I heard: They should have had Ashnault, Sebastian, and Mastriani.
5) I saw these guys at the national tournament cleaning up with a contingent of like 45 kids and 7 coaches. They had to have pulled more than 10 All-Americans.
5) Please stop the creepy talk. It's bizarre. It shows you have a mental aptitude, but an instability.

This guy is so weird and bizarre that I can't understand a single thing that he is saying. This is just obscure and shows a great/creepy imagination.
I m far from the east coast, but I know Logan was an all-American, karnitsky was a world champion, and I was there at UC Davis when Norgaard beat Uriah Faber and NCAA champion gentry from Stanford in the same day. That can't be a bad club coaching staff.

I have bounced around to most of the clubs in New Jersey for most of my wrestling career. I started going to Apex last year because they have like 15 all americans in the room every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday in their high school classes. No other club that I could find actually has a room like that. I have trained in the same room as every kid on their pop n flo dual team. I seriously have trained in the same Apex room as every single one of them. Here are some facts:
1) every guy on the Apex team trains at the club. Some are more consistant than others, but it's like that at all clubs.
2) Apex has depth. They brought 2 full teams, and the B team went 4-1.
3) Iron Horse had Gravina, Johnson, and Jenco from Apex.
4) Triumph had McKenzie, Hertling, Devito, and Pozsyoni from Apex.
5) CJA had Farley and beshada from Apex.
6) Atlas had the Shea brother from Apex.
7) Apex didn't have Ashnault (NE Regionals), Sebastian (NE Regionals), and Mastriani (family commitment). With any of these guys, they win. With all of them, it's a blow out.
8) Iron Horse had a team composed of kids from the Edge, Apex, Scorpions, SIR, Elite, Triumph, Rusty Reid's, ect. Gary offers them all money to wrestle for him. He offered some of the kids that I train with.

These are all facts that I am 100% certain of. There is no opinion involved except for #7- predicting an outcome. I'm not as talented as the kids on the Apex team. I would have loved for my coaches to pick me, but I understand that my best teammates should go. I heard the Ex-Cell was an all-star team, but I don't know if that's true. They probably are the best club in NY. What I do know for certain is that I train with all of the kids on team Apex and many who weren't in what is possibly the most competitive and talented room on the east coast.
As I read through these wicked and jealous comments, I know you all know who the best club around is. You have to fight for your life in that room every day. It's like the "who's who" of New Jersey wrestling, plus all th New York and Connecticuitstate medalists who come to train with us.
This is not to mention that they have 8 high level, top notch Division I caliber coaches and 3 are in every class. If I was another club guy, I would be jealous also like all of you haters. None of you would EVER say anything to their faces. If you want to know who is on top, listen to who the haters are talking about. Here is a clear example.

That was the strangest, sickest, most bizarre, inappropriate post that Flowrestling has allowed anyone to post. Whoever wrote that has a sick, sad, probably jealous immagination that needs to be corrected or atleast contained. It sounds like the anonymous coward who wrote that has some kind of sick fantacies about Apex, Damian, Norgaard, and mezzacapo. Who ever they are??? Please stop posting this trash you sick, sad, pervert.

Anonymous Coward 12 months ago

Are you seriously attacking Mezzacappo?

The guy seriously does nothing but help wrestling and young men who want to get better. Sickening.

Shore conference rules 12 months ago

Every single call favored iron horse. Apex still won! Haha even the refs couldn't save iron horse. All the money in the world can't buy Gary the win. He can buy kids from their clubs, he can even buy refs, but he can't buy takedowns and back points. Haha. Strike three Gary. Next years team is really going to break the bank. Try to buy more shore kids like Winston and hamann. We have the best wrestling down here.

It really seems impossible that the kid had both ankles. You can see the kids in the back point in astonishment at the free leg of the Apex kid. They had the best view in the house. Regardless, there in absolutely no reaction time. I would hope my coaches would stand up for me like those Apex coaches did.

Imaref2 are you kidding. Were you there? Did you see the chirping from both sides? Did you see coaches on both sides walking on the mats during the matches? Did you see the 5 spectators after the phantom takedown point to Suriano's free foot? Nobody was fleeing the mat either. As far a class goes Apex proves to be at the top of the list. Answer this Why would the top two finishers in the previous year's tournament be placed in the same bracket? There were bad calls made on all sides over the weekend as well as great ones. That's wrestling. Kids, coaches and parents get amped up. Its called competiveness. Get over yourself and stop spreading rumors about who will or will attend next year's event. Your comments show only evny as you hide like a punk in anonimity.

Anonymous Coward 12 months ago

even if i wasnt a takeown he wouldve got the one for fleeing the mat so either way suriano would lost

Imaref2 1 year ago

apex - big O for class none at all, heard their not coming back...good...would sure make for a better tournament without cry baby coaches. great kids. coaches are bad examples. not all, just two...

control on the mat beyond reaction time, easy call takedown 2

Imaref2 1 year ago

Good call, no question, one of the best refs around. He works National events allover the country. Should have taken more team points from Apex coaches. Thick skinned.

clearly two. They are not used to losing so are not quite sure how to react when they do. It's a humbling sport and over time they will get used losing here and there. He's still solid.

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

that was a 2. Quit complaining. Apex coaches like Suriano are premadonas. They can't handle losses. Always complaining about refs, wrestlers, etc. Karma. What goes around comes around. Finally, all their whining caught up to them.

Keystone State 1 year ago

looked like 2 to me. if you cover both of the ankles then its two so thats what the ref was probably thinking

No 2

Real coaches... 1 year ago

maybe the ref called the takedown because he wasn't happy about hearing all that the apex people had to say... or yell the entire match. not sure why there were coaches coming onto the mat complaining after regulation... looking to get a stall call? hmm... definitely a bad call, but when you are disrespectfully gnawing at the refs ear all match, sometimes they'll getcha back.
