Check out the flowrestling recap of the 2012 NCAA Wrestling Championships held at the Scott Trade Center in St. Louis Missouri. THis week the guys talk about Penn State and their dominance with David Taylor and Ed Ruth. Nico Megaludis also came through in a huge way being 1 of Penn States 5 finalists. They also go in depth on the Logan Stieber Jordan Oliver Final and the close call at the end of the match. Cornell had the tournament they might have needed last year but ended up with 3 champs and an NCAA Trophy.

Martin you are a total chud. You know nothing about the Perry family or even if the 2 brothers talked about the possibilty of having mark coach against chris prior to nationals. Your opinions are out of control and annoying and the fact that you didn't let bader or joe know that you were gonna talk about coach of the year before you asked them is unprofessional. On a side note...next year for flocenter you guys should have your talks that you do but also try to incorporate some sort of top 10 countdown like sportscenter does. that would be sick

You guys need to control Martin. He needs to stop interrupting the conversation and let bader and joe talk

John Smith even said in an interview on ESPN after the match that it was pretty emotional for Chris Perry with his brother in the corner. Competing against your sibling is completely different than directly coaching against. When other coaches could have done the same.

1. It was a takedown. Having an upper leg and an ankle secured = having two legs secured with Steiber on his butt. 2. Dake is a stud. Many many wrestlers out there are trying to wrestle defensively to shutdown big offensive guys ability to score. This was classically evident in St. Johns strategy and it wasnt enough. Dake made history and should recieve the credit he deserves.

Would have liked to heard atleast something about McD, the champ at 125. This is the second interview where you guys said absolutely nothing about the champ who dominated up to the finals and then controlled megaludis. You also talked about the 1st place team, the 2nd place team, and the 4th place team. Nothing was said about Iowa's tournament. That I have less of a problem with because Cornell had 3 champs which is awesome for the east coast, but in my opinion you guys are the media for wrestling these days. Why no talk about Iowa unless it is about booing dake? I am an Iowa fan and I was pretty disappointed that some Iowa fans were booing dake. I also know a few Iowa fans that were there who said they did not approve of that either. Ya know, I am an Iowa homer, but I am a little disappointed that this site doesn't really talk about Iowa much unless it is painting Iowa/Brands/Iowa fans in a negative light. Believe it or not the state of Iowa's wrestling fans are very passionate about wrestling, but they are still the minority in this state and there is a lot of room for the sport to grow in Iowa, especially at the high school level. Would have loved to seen some kind of coverage for Iowa high school wrestling, because there is not much video coverage for it. I do want to say that I think Flowrestling is great for the sport and you guys do an awesome job, but IF Iowa college wrestling dies I believe it will on the high school level also and I would sure hate to see that

1. takedown for Oliver (agree that there needs to be some education for officials and fans in that position)

2. Mark Perry should not have been in the corner
3. John Mark Bentley coach of the year ( to me coach of the year is the guy that gets the best results with the least resources)

someone should get Martin his medication.

If Joe coached against me. He would not be aloud to show up during Christmas. After the match I would not shake Joe's hand, I would give him a round house!!!

Alllllmost got it on my prediction of Sakaguchi over Molinaro. Guy is going to be a BEAST next yr. Sad Oregon St loses the JACK Hammer. 125-Rollins, 33s-Roberts, 41s-Mangrum, 49s-Sakaguchi, 57s-Pena, 65s-Latham/Seth Thomas, 74s-Weishoff/Engdahl, 84s-Meeks, 97s-Vinson, HWTs-Kloss/Gidlund/Swartzlender.....solid club...but yes, Stanford's on the way up too!

ESPN should put these 3 guys in the broadcast booth.

If you look at the Villager Newspaper Online and check out the Stieber article, there is a sequential photo montage of the end of the Stieber - Oliver match. Sure doesn't look like a takedown. I can't paste the link because the comment page thinks it's spam. Just do a google search for "the Villager Newspaper Online".

You have to look at this like a business....It doesnt matter who the coach is its the wrestlers who decide the out come

Oliver had two but didn't get it. Everyone should know Oliver is going to shred everyone next year.

I see Martin's point, however it happens all the time. Brothers play against each other in football, basketball, and in Ohio this year brothers wrestled against each other at State.

How about the Williams sisters playing each other in tennis at a grand slam event?

The Stieber call does have pre 1 year ago

Chad Mendes had the same sort of situation against Jaggers in 2008 and they didn't call it a takedown. That one wasn't at the end of the match though, so I think it didn't get quite as much controversy

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

completely agree with Martin about Perry. How can you coach at the Nationals against your brother? I could never do it; I'd want my brother to win.

What is fair? 1 year ago

Jordan Olivers head was trapped inside. He didn't keep wrestling until he heard two!

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

Martin just tries to make him sound right by screaming, his arguments don't make sense, Mark and Chris Perry are professionals and I don't Beleive him sitting in Blantons corner made much of an impact on the match

bonesaw 1 year ago

the ref looked at them for at least 5 seconds he was telling oliver it was neutral still and he didnt move it shouldnt even need reviewed the ref saw it for so long and told the wrestlers they were still neutral imo good call

Godfather 1 year ago

Mark Perry sat in Blanton's corner for the quarters against Chris Perry. Jeremy Hunter sat in Blanton's corner for the third place match against Chris Perry.

I think video replay would only apply for mis-application of the rules but not to review judgment calls. With that being said, after seeing video and photos of the Oliver non-takedown call, Oliver didn't really have the ankle controlled with his right arm so it was correctly called.

you guys are nuts lol

Molinaro is being replaced by andrew alton, who I think is going to win it all next year. Wade is being replaced by Jimmy Lawson. Penn St. is repeating next year.
