This is what makes wrestling a sport that teaches us to always work hard and never give on ourselves and most of all our deams. I don't know of another sport that would even give someone without a leg the time of day, much less really think they could make an impact. Wrestling is a sport where you only get what you earn, and Robles earned his title. I know he had almost everyone in the building pulling for him, but he still needed to earn it. This young man makes me proud that I am a part of this sport. Wrestling to me teaches us that we are more than we appear, we only need to REALLY believe that we are. I love wrestling and Anthony Robles is just another reason I love the sport of wrestling even more. We need to fight for wrestling, we are losing programs (D1/D2, etc.) left and right. We can not let this happen, for every school that drops its program. That is one less chance we will ever get to see another Anthony Robles. Not that there ever will be another Anthony Robles, but I believe most will understand what I am trying to say. Thanks Flo for the coverage!! |

As a big Iowa fan, I was rooting for McDonough, but I was so impressed with Robles- not only as a wrestler, but as a humble young man. What a great accomplishment he had Saturday night- I can only imagine how many more great accomplishments he will achieve in the near future. Was also glad to see Brands stop and congratulate him- Very classy move, Tom! |
