First, Mack's brother Sam, wrestled at OK State, not Iowa State, and that is where Mack spent summers.

Looks to me that Reader was the better wrestler. OTOH, Lewnes gave up a reversal when he went with a ride he does not usually do. It also looks like after two years of not being taken down until the NCAAs, Lewnes is to willing to give up a leg, figuring he STILL won't be taken down. But Reader and Ruth are so strong that when they get hold, even Mack could not break free.

anonymous coward, you probably didn't know that Lewnes lost his "dong" in a horrible, horrible motocross accident at a young age... He no longer has one. Before he resets on the bottom, he grasps and clutches at the air where his "dong" used to be, in memory of what he once had.

Mack was all set to go to ISU where his brother was wrestling. It was the Cornell Hotel School that helped get Mack to Cornell. But Mack has been spending summers all though HS wrestling at ISU--so we're Lucky get to Mack.

love how jon reader literally grips up on lewnes' headgear the whole match. don't know that it would have made a difference in the match but that would certainly be irritating if you are lewnes.

Mental game: 2
Mack is seriously better than guys who have won the whole thing and he always seems to come up short in the big ones. He reminds me of a guy like Manotti a few years back who was near the top the whole way through, but never pushed through to the top. Guys like that are so talented, but they have to find a way to win the big ones when it counts

Glad to see Reader didnt hang out on the legs like Ruth

Ruth was "hanging" on the legs because lewnes constantly pushed his head down there, you can see he did it a lot in this match too.

A good poll to have for a flo tshirt would be who wins at 74 in march. Between Ruth, Lewnes, Heinrich, and Reader, the semi-finals will be great at NCAAS (if they all make it there), but the champ could be different if the tournament was wrestled 4 times.

AWESOME MATCH....Reader looks so much better this year than in the past. the thing is reader is tough as hell on top, he just never got a chance to get anything going as mack is one of the best guys in the country on the bottom. i'd have to disagree with jones and say directly the opposite. Reader will beat ruth come march bc he's that good on the mat. his nuetral positioning has also improved tremendously.

Great match. Both these guys are so quick for 174 lbs. I think Reader can take Ruth.

One annoyance: Reader blatantly pulling on the head gear at 4:36 and again at 9:15.

Reader way too strong for Lewnes, score a lot closer than the match actually looked. Reader just can't ride for crap, which is what it will come down to when Ruth beats him in March

I will speak for most of the Iowa Hawks...Reader you deserve to be the Champ this year. It has been fun watching you for the last 5 years.

He "deserves" it? Nobody deserves anything in wrestling. You only deserve what you earn. Reader will only win a title when he earns it come March....just like he earned the win yesterday.

I wish refs would start enforcing the rules correctly for the top man's start position. Reader starts directly behind Lewnes ... instead of to the side. Refs let this go way too much.
