You know, this whole crap about the TD on the edge is annoying. It's NOT 2 in Wisconsin and as such, Gruettner didn't defend as though it would have been. Had that been the rule, Gruettner would have wrestled accordingly rather than kicking over.

I do hope these two wrestle again next year. Gruettner goes about 195 this year. Lets see him at 210 or so. It should be a helluva match next year.

Another thing we do right in PA is stay on topic. When we're discussing terrible rules and horrifying officiating in Wisconsin, we do not turn the topic to the results of NFL wildcard football.
When you watch a kid work hard to achieve his goals, do everything to win and get robbed, it's not something that should be dismissed. If you weren't good at pumping gas, you'd be fired. Officials in every sport should be treated the same way.
But when you come from a second rate wrestling state (being generous), I guess
second rate outcomes are acceptable... Especially if the hometown boy gets the W.

you watch that match and conclude that the ref did the right thing by not throwing the coach out? that's the benefit of the doubt?

never mind the deep whizzer takedown call, the no call on the TD on the edge, the clear whistle on the other mat and the fact that it's not 1 at the end unless the kid turns and faces him prepared to wrestle?

Referees who can't do their job should be banned from even watching the sport. Unbelievable. The state of Wisconsin should be ashamed of themselves for their terrible rules and both officials should be banned from the sport. I would have been thrown out if vizcarrondo's corner before the end of the first period. Glad I live in Pennsylvania where wrestling is done the right way.

hopefully some type of action will be taken against this official by his association, since this match is on tape for all to see. what a disgrace to this sport. PA kid got robbed

The TD did take action and he was very upset. I will not go into detail but do not want it assumed that this was not dealt with.
My understanding is that the ref will not be back at the cheesehead.
