UD Wrestling beats #7 ranked Luther College on Friday, February 8th - 2008. The matches began at the 133 lbs. weight class and he Spartans struck early by opening up the night with a 10-6 victory by Donte Brown. Adam Canty beat #10-ranked Travis Grawin 5-3 to continue the upset victory to stretch the team lead to 6-0 over the Norse.Spartans earned back-to-back tech falls by Josh Terrell (157 lbs) 19-3 in 6:45 and by Darrin Kaisand (165 lbs.) 18-2 in 5:16. Evan Brown edged out a hard fought 5-2 victory at 174 lbs. before Matt Wonderlin (184) lbs. collected an 8-0 win. Wonderlin suffered a minor knee injury with 34 seconds to go in the match and returned to finish the match and capture the inspiring win. UD captured their third Top-20 win of the season."I thought Donte Brown set the pace by opening up the meet with a win," commented coach Jon McGovern. US Olympic Greco Head Coach Steve Fraser works with UD Wrestling Team.On our final day of training at the US Olympic Training Center this week our team got in a great day of improvement as we held a 3 + hour training, technique, and conditioning practice @ the OTC. Steve Fraser showed most of the technique focusing on Russian ties, underhooks, front headlocks, hand fighting, and domination training. The US Olympic Team won their first World Team medal this year under Steve’s guidance.
