Coaches, systems, partners etc... are all important factors in the success of any wrestler. This is a very simple self evaluation tool to measure the level of success you can reach based on your own potential.

Effectiveness X Efficiency = Productivity
Whether you are in middle school, high school or college this can help you focus your training goals and give you the best chance to reach your dreams!!
Some factors to consider are the following:
Focus
Strength training
cardio vascular training
Technique
Nutrition
Drilling
Effectiveness: To rate your effectiveness give your self a number from 1- 10 based on whether you are doing the right things. Maybe you are pretty focused and you give yourself an 8 out of 10. You are doing many of the right things knowing you have room to improve.
Efficiency: Are you doing the right things well? Using the same factors how efficient are you. Do you procrastinate, skip workouts, cheat on your diet etc.. This number should be lower than your effectiveness. There are always things we get done but could be more efficient! Rate your self 1-10.
Productivity: Multiply the two numbers together and you will get a clear picture of how well you are preparing for your goals and what changes need to be made in your training.
Example: E(1) = 8, E(2) = 6
8 X 6 = 48
You are training at 48% of your potential!! You better be very talented and lucky if you want to reach your goals.
The Beauty: It takes about 30 days to form a new habbit. Pick one thing you need to improve on in the next 30 days. Stay focused and make it a habbit. Repeat and repeat! By making one change every 30 days in a 90 day period you can significantly increase your productivity!!
After 90 days: E(1) = 9, E(2) = 8
9 X 8 = 72
You are now operating at 72% of your full potential. That is a significant increase over a 90 day period.
Every individual is unique. Potential is not the same for everyone. Your best might be 4th in the state, or it might be 4th in the country. What ever your potential is make sure you are working towards your best!!
On a final note understand that this formula coupled with the 80/20 rule will help guide you in your efforts.
Only 20% of your competitors are training to 80% of their potential.
The question is: What level are you traning!!

This is a pretty interesting concept and potentially a pretty tangible way to self-evaluate. Thanks.
