Predictions For World Team Trials
#82 | Some really great wrestling but way to much controversy. The video reviews with terrible video was not good. Dlagnev was amazing vs. Mocco. Herbert/Hasseman and Simmons/Felix matches were very good as well. All 4 athletes went after it. The Schlatter/Paulson matches were terrible, no action at all. Hopefully we will get some medalist in Holland. |

#79 | CALDWELL!!! |
#78 | The feeds are inconsistent. Once you get it, you need to stay on it because sometimes it's tough to sign off and get back on again. what's up with this tournament? Either the brackets I had were way off or guys are allowed to enter the tournement on the day of the tournament. Nothing I had before showed Caldwell even being entered. The freestyle in place now pretty much is ridiculous. How many periods have been won be scores of 1-0? You see a guy winning a match with scores of 1-0, 0-4,1-0. Idiotic tiebreakers and the sumo techniques to push a guy out of the circle. For the finals - do they come out with loin cloths on and lift their legs up as they get positioned for the match to start? |
#77 | is spencer mango competing |
#76 | Has anyone else had difficulty getting the live feed to work? |
#75 | my guess is... Freestyle Simmons, Za, Paulson (just too strong for metcalf...for now anyway), Paulson, Herbert, Varner, Mocco. greco Hazewinkle, Betterman, Rial, Lester, Dantzler, Ahearn, Byers. woman just kidding |
#74 | Greco Sam Hazewinkel Joe Betterman Faruk Sahin Harry Lester T.C. Dantzler R.C. Johnson Erik Nye |
#73 | Harvot could possibly be in the finals as well! |
#72 | Freestyle Simmons Zaover Simmons in finals Metcalf over Caldwell in finals Paulson Herbert Tamillo over Varner in finals Macco |
#71 | I'll give it a shot: Simmons Humphrey (longshot) Paulson Gavin Herbert Varner Mocco Would like to see Stieber and Metcalf win - just to get some young blood over to the World Championships, but don't think it will happen. |
#70 | Cejudo is definitely not competing nor is Askren. I don't know about the others. |
#69 | So looking at the participants list for the World team trials on Trackwrestling… I see some names that I was not expecting. Askren, Ben-74kg Cejudo, Henry-55kg Lawal, Mo-84kg Pendleton, Chris-84kg Can anyone confirm these? Not to say these guys are out of wrestling by any means, but I know Askren and Lawal have been fighting. Chris has been in the OSU room? Cejudo has been traveling non-stop, and I heard rumor he was/is boxing, but has he been wrestling? I once heard Terry Brands (could’ve been Tom) say that kids are dreaming of State Championships, but instead they should be dreaming of World Championships. High School kids aside, are our “best” doing that?? |
#68 | It would be amazing if Caldwell Caldwell Caldwell won the Trials since he isn't listed as being a participant. Too bad, I would have loved to see a rematch with Metcalf - assumign the pairings would have gone that way. I don't see anyone beating Paulson based on the Nationals, but at that level, half the field is good enough to win it with some breaks and just peaking with conditioning (aka the J. Jaggers syndrome) |
#67 | herbert |
#66 | Caldwell Caldwell Caldwell |
#65 | I should have planned on going. Would love to see a rematch between Caldwell and Metcalf. Metcalf. Paulson, Schlatter and Gavin at 74 will also be interesting. Steiber win would be incredible for a junior at a Division 3 school in Ohio with his only loss to David Taylor as a freshman. Too bad Taylor isn't giving it a go - just wonder how he would do at this level. |
#64 | Just wait to see who's hopped on CBD. |
#63 | Good luck Humphrey, Steiber, and Schlatter! |

#49 | i don't care who goes. we just better win a lot of gold. the team has been pathetic. sorry guys but it's true. |
![]() #48 | steiber |
#47 | I would love to see Steiber have a good showing. I have seen him wrestle high school kids but can't find any videos of him against college and senior opponents. |
#46 | Caldwell!!!!!!!!!!!! Or my name isn't Hurtz |
#45 | |
#44 | schwab is tired blood need some new athletes caldwell has a shot Jake varner-Jake Herbert are the two budding superstars the Paulson brothers have peaked at the right time they have worked hard. |
#43 | |
#42 | how is it that its Za di cks fault we didn't qualify 60kg's? didn't Scott, Bunch, and Gallick all have opportunities to qualify the weight? He's a World Silver medalist and one of our best shots of winning a World Title, this year! |
#41 | would love to see steiber |
#40 | why dont they have trials on the east coast or midwest ? they need to get more college wrestlers at the trials. its not easy for a college student to afford a plane ticket too las vegas. also we need to get a major training center in the midwest or east coast. the fila juniors and university have a much better turn out than senior opens. U.S wrestling need to figure out a way to get more college guys to the senior opens. GOOD LUCK whoever is on the team |

#38 | If its for a T-shirt: Simmons, Zad i ck, Schwab, Paulson, Herbert, Varner, Mocco. If its not: Simmons, Valenti, Caldwell, Schlatter, Herbert, Varner, Mocco. |
#37 | JR FIla what about those young freshmen and sopres |
#36 | Anyone think Stieber has a shot? The kids in high school, but he's an animal. He has beat some big names. |
#35 | I agree with score lets get someone with more tallent than zadik at 60 he kept us out of the olympics at that weight, I didn't even know that was possible until he came along |
#34 | for greco 74kg WILL be lester. nothing against deitchler i think hes a great wrestler, but i think this is lester's year right now. he just seems so much larger than deitchler and without that intense goal of making the olympic team during high school i dont think that deitchler has the mental edge anymore |
#33 | is this going to be on Television |
#32 | Za doesnt impress as much as he used to. I think it will be Humps day. |
![]() #31 | I do agree that Hump has an outside shot. He is such a good freestyler. |
#30 | I think that Ruehling dude has it right. Humphrey's great and on a roll. He will suprise everyone, have you seen the way he can toss people. Good call. |

#20 | I know Schwab didnt have a great performance at Nationals, but he was our olympian next year. I wouldn't be surprised if he beats Metcalf, and then Paulson. |
#19 | just maybe he looks hungery for a win |
#18 | 96KG=JD Bergman |
#17 | Look for Caldwell to shock us all again. He'll score 3 points per match on push outs alone! |
#16 | SIMMONS, HUMPHREY, PAULSON, SCHLATTER, HERBERT, VARNER, MOCCO |
![]() #15 | Mike James said: they are taking this year off to rest, sources have told mewhat bout cejudo and all the guys who did well alst year at the olympics? why arent they competing? |
![]() #14 | Maybe next time Mary |
#13 | C'mon Joe....announce a contest around this....Since you haven't put your own ideas on the line, why not have us do the hard work and lay it on the line for our favorite contenders......I'm waiting.....announce it....OK? |
![]() #12 | Simmons Bunch Paulson Schlatter Herbert Bergman Delagnev Who ever goes I think will do just fine. You guys seriously have no faith in our wrestlers. I think all the tours these guys have been on this year will help out tremendously. |
#11 | Coleman Scott??? please.... 60kg will be very interesting but wont be him. |
#10 | nick simmons 55kilos, mike zad 60 kilos doug schawb 66 kilos travis paulson 74 kilos jake herbert 84 kilos andy hrovat 96 kilos steve mocco. 120 kilos Remember we are currently in the middle of a rebuilding process in our freestyle program( I hate to say it). The goal is 2012 remember! These guys will do fine in Denmark |
![]() #9 | Pretty harsh there bro, did Deitchler kill your dog in a previous life or something? Problem is ... our best wrestlers (Cejudo, Cormier, etc.) won't be there ... Harry's awesome, no doubt about it, but damn, why the bluntness with Deitcher? He's story did a lot more for wrestling than people admit to or realize. |
