Is there a LOI date that he has to meet? I would not rule out Ohio State yet based on listening to the interview. Spent a lot of time talking about Cael Sanderson, but spent as much or more time talking about Ryan, Heskett and the goals of OSU wrestling. Anybody know who he lost to in High School? I didn't think he lost a match - was it as a freshman only? I believe Seiber's only loss was to Taylor as a freshman and Taylor was a soph - but they were the same age.
I'd bet my top dollar Taylor goes to PSU. PSU made his top 3 college choices WITHOUT Sanderson. He chose ISU because Sanderson was there, but now that Cayle is at PSU, Taylor will follow.
as a penn state alum, i'd love to see him at penn state along with the alton twins, ed ruth, frank molinaro, max huntley and quentin wright. wow, what a line up that would be in a couple of years!
Im guessing either Ohio State, Oklahoma State, or Penn state they all have the great work out partners and Cael just signed the Alton twins and they had an all american 141 so 25% on Ohio State, 25% Oklahoma State and 50% on Penn State
taylor has been working out at team prodigy in springboro ohio with t.ware and coach john smith was right there watching t.ware school taylor. I say okie might be the dark horse in this whole mess and might even be leading the pact. Psu Okie state the OSU. bottom line is he has alway wanted to wrestle for cael and thats not going to change. If he went to OHIO STATE that might be the best place for him his friends and family would be close and the exposure he will get from that school would be huge, competition would tough lance and collin palmer, padock, humphreys, steiber, jameson, triggas and nemec taylor could work out with any these guys wow
Good points. J Smith and E Guerrero are doing something special there. I'm not paying close attention to rosters, so why wasn't Iowa State mentioned? Are they full at his weight? Prediction: Brands will rival Smith in his contribution to the sport as a coach. And I'm looking forward to seeing how Sanderson will develope as a coach. I'm sure Sanderson had his reasons for switching, and I know rumors often have no basis in reality. But I'd sure like to know why he switched. Did he issue a press release?
In a perfect world he would come to Central Michigan and be a Chippewa. In a perfect world Unicorns would brush my hair until I fell asleep on a mound of Victoria Secret Models..Unfortunately, the world is not perfect(so I'm told...don't believe it) and I think he will end up at Penn State or Ohio State. If I were him I'd go to ITT Technical Institute get a jump start on a great career in a number of viable fields including drafting, medical assistant or network administrator. It's an Education for the Future for God's sake.
I go to Graham I wan on the JV wrestling team im not very good but I talk to David every once and a while and I asked him and he said hes leaning toward Penn State
He should go where he thinks he can spend four or five happy years and achieve his maximum potential. A great place is an atmosphere you can enjoy with academics that interest you, with a coach and teammates that will help take you to where you want to go in your career. Penn State has a good program and Cael was a great wrestler and one of the most humble and well achieved people in all of sports. Cael doesn’t have a long history of recruiting and turning out national champions; Penn State may be upcoming but they have not arrived; and Penn State doesn’t have the depth in the room some other programs have so he may not have the workout partners he will need when injuries mount up on workout partners through out the season. Ohio State has done well, but may not do as well and again Mr. Ryan, a top coach, hasn't turned out a long line of his own national champions, ones he recruited and led to championships. David Taylor could do well with Coach John Smith at OSU, a coach who has a statistically significant record of turning out national champions and national champion teams, a coach who is the greatest technician in our sport, in a program that in the cyclical world of college wrestling domination between Iowa and Oklahoma State may in two years return to dominate college wrestling, and has great depth at the range of weights that Taylor may grow into after a red shirt year. Wrestling is a grind anywhere so Taylor should get away from the pressure of being Ohio's great hope and just be his own hope and happiness, either in PSU with Sanderson or Oklahoma State or Minnesota with J. Robinson. If wrestling is his top goal, then the statistically significant advantage of Coach Smith’s program with the OSU cowboys may give Taylor the edge he needs as he drives for future Olympic and international success, and racks up NCAA wins on the way.
It would be so special to be as great as Taylor. He would look really good as a Nittany Lion, but even with Cael there now, both "OSU''s" have awesome programs.
I would love to hear the pitches the coaches will make.
