Henson has made mistakes years ago, we all have. Does he go over board sometimes, Yes, but overall he is a great asset to ANY organization, He brings a very hi level of intensity and work ethic every day to work with him. Sammie is older now and wiser now, has made changes and truly wants the best for the kids he coaches. Its clearly time for some of you haters out there that obviously are ignorant to let go of old grudges and forgive the past. Sammie will help the Tigers be more intense and push themselves harder weekly, which equals more wins, period!!!! I could very easily see him taking over at Mizzou when the time comes and the head coaching job becomes available! |

Lifelong assistant-always a bridesmaid never the bride! I think when people unbiased enough look at the facts they see that Henson has had multiple opportunities at multiple top tier universities and yet has never been granted the opportunity to be the face of the program "officially". Multiple schools, one coach, two-three years and moving on...what's the common unstable thread here? Funny that "Good Stuff" mentions Henson and "class" in the same sentence-that is the definition of irony! |

This will be great for mizzou! As far as TC goes. I think it shows TC as well as Henson have a ton of class. I'm sure TC would have gone any place Henson was but Henson didn't use that. He got TC where he needed to be and worked with Mizzou on his own Merritt. |

While this is good for Mizzou (if it's true) - this is actually bad for Sammie. He does a great job of coaching, and his wrestlers love him, but i don't see this job turning into more than it already is - ASSISTANT. He needs to find a head coaching job, even if it is at a small school - which would be a waste given his credentials. I wish him the best. |

I hope it's true and I hope even more that he has a long and successful stay there. Welcome home (if in fact true)! |

This is hilarious if this is true... Tyler Caldwell swore he would wrestle for nobody but Sammie Henson. Everybody criticized TC in not being loyal to a program but in reality he is just super loyal to Sammie. And while at the time it seemed Sammie wouldn't have a job by the time TC rejoined the college ranks, TC signs with OSU. But now with Sammie possibly coaching against his #1 boy? Ironic! |

While nothing is confirmed, a source close to Flowrestling tells us that Sammie Henson may be headed back to Missouri to be an assistant coach. If this indeed does hold to be true what are your thoughts on Henson heading back to his home state to coach? Matt Pell was the head assistant and stepped down from that role at the end of this past season for family reasons.
As we know Sammie Henson has been to a number of different schools to coach at and his role in the success at those schools was evident. Most recently he coached at Oklahoma and while he was there we saw that school turn around a tough time they had been having. Sammie Henson grew up just outside of St. Louis and competed at Missouri for the beginning of his college career where he earned All-American honors as a freshman before transferiing to Clemson where he won 2 NCAA titles. In 1998 he won a world title and in 2000 he was silver at the Olympic games.
