With 0:45 seconds left in the 2nd period DiJulius is hit for stalling with McDonough following with a takedown to go up 2-1. McDonough rides out the period taking a 2-1 lead into the 3rd period with 1:12 in riding time. McDonough chooses down and gets a quick reversal to take a 4-1 lead. DiJulius escapes with 28 seconds left in the match to make it 4-2. McDonough takes the victory 5-2 with riding time.

Stieber in deep on a head inside single, but Ramos does a nice job of taking it to a stalemate. Ramos in deep on Stieber, but Stieber fends off the attack until the period ends at 0-0. Ramos chooses to go down and Stieber rides tough switching between a spiral half and a crab ride position. Stieber rocks back with a half and tilts Ramos for a 3 point nearfall to take a 3-0 lead and proceeds to ride out the period and rack up 2:00 of riding time. Stieber chooses down in the 3rd and Ramos kicks him out right away to put Stieber up 4-0. With short time left Ramos tries a big move and Stieber defends it and scores a takedown of his own to take a 7-0 victory.

Like his older brother, Hunter Stieber is in deep on a head inside single immediately and fights to finish for the first 45 seconds to no avail as they go off the mat. With 1 minute left in the 1st period Stieber takes down Marion and racks up 0:35 of riding time before Marion escapes to make it 2-1 at the end of the 1st. Stieber chooses down and earns 1 point for a technical violation on Marion for pulling back 1 finger and then earns an escape to take a 4-1 lead. Stieber in deep on another single, but Marion fights it off again and the 2nd period ends 4-1. Marion chooses down and escapes to make the score 4-2 with no riding time for either man. Stieber gets in deep again, but Marion continues to show great hips and fends off the score. Marion comes very close to scoring with 20 seconds left in the match, but Stieber holds him off and wins 4-2.

Kelly jacks up Tessari with double underhooks, but Tessari bundles the arms, back arches and throws Kelly. No back points were awarded and Kelly escapes to make it 2-1. Tessari goes back to the same throw, but this time Kelly scores a takedown and nearly catches Tessari on his back and takes the lead 3-2. Tessari reverses Kelly and then rides out the period taking a 4-3 lead into the 2nd period. Kelly chooses down, escapes and ties the score 4-4. Kelly continues to live in underhooks, but Tessari looks comfortable staying in the upper body ties. Tessari chooses down in the 3rd and earns a quick escape making the score 5-4. Kelly gets in deep, but Tessari defends to a stalemate. With short time left, Tessari takes down Kelly to his back earning a 2 point nearfall and winning 9-4.

157 - #2 St. John (I) vs. Demas (tOSU)
Demas hits a sick ankle pick off of the whistle and St. Johns immediately clutches his heavily taped right knee. Demas earns 2 points for the takedown and takes neutral on the restart due to St. John taking injury time. No more scores and the 1st period ends 2-0. St. John takes neutral in the 2nd period and stays heavy on the head of Demas and appears to be wearing on him. Demas counters the heavy forward pressure with his Dirty Duck to take a 4-0 lead. St. Johns escapes quickly and immediately gets back to hand fighting heavily and forces Demas into a bad shot and scores a go behind to make it 4-3. St. John kicks Demas and looks for the takedown to tie the match, but it is Demas who gets the take down and the win 7-3.

165 - #6 Evans (I) vs. Garcia (tOSU)
Garcia comes out early with 2 quick takedowns off of low singles and takes a 4-2 lead into the 2nd period. Garcia chooses neutral in the second and gets a third takedown but gives up a quick reversal making the score 6-4. Evans rides out the period, but there is no riding time. Evans chooses down in the 3rd and Garcia goes optional start making it 6-5 Garcia. Both wrestlers get in on attacks but neither are able to finish and Garcia gets the huge victory 6-5

174 - #9 Lofthouse (I) vs. Grandominico (tOSU)
With Mangrum out of the lineup at 184 the Buckeyes choose to send out Grandominico at 174 and bump Heflin to 184. Lofthouse gets a quick takedown and rides out Grandominico looking for the pin, but the period ends 2-0. To start the 2nd period Grandominico goes back underneath but this time earns an escape making it 2-1. Lofthouse gets another takedown and takes a 4-1 lead going into the 3rd with 2:35 of riding time. Lofthouse goes down and gets an escape making it 5-1. Grandominico fends Lofthouse off and keeps the match to a decision for Lofthouse 6-1.

184 - Wagner (I) vs. #8 Heflin (tOSU)
A lot of hand fighting in the 1st but neither wrestler comes close to any score. Heflin chooses down in the 2nd and gets a quick escape and Wagner does the same in the 3rd with little action in a 1-1 match. Heflin stuffs a Wagner shot and scores a takedown on a go behind to take a 3-1 lead. Wagner escapes quickly, but Heflin scores another quick takedown making the score 5-3 after another Wagner escape. Heflin scores yet again at the end of the match to earn a 7-3 victory and pretty much seal the deal for the Buckeyes.

Camplotanno gets a quick take down and has a cradle locked up but only earns a 1 count as Gambrell breaks the lock. Gambrell escapes and earns a takedown of his own. Camplotanno scores an escape and the 1st period ends 3-3. Camplotanno chooses down and reverses Gambrell and Gambrell escapes to make the score 5-4. Gambrell chooses down and escapes in the 3rd to tie the score 5-5. Camplotanno scores a takedown to go up 7-5 and Gambrell escapes. Gambrell, down 1 is called for grabing the head gear to put Camplotanno up 8-6. Camplotanno holds off Gambrell taking the decision 8-6.

Raising with an early takedown and racks up 1:24 of riding time before Capone can escape. Raising chooses down in the 2nd and earns a quick escape taking a 3-1 lead which sticks going into the 3rd. Capone earns an escape in the 3rd making the score 3-2, but Raising sill has riding time. Capone takes a shot to tie the match, but Raising crushes him with his hip and scores the final takedown winning 6-3.

With 7 freshman in the lineup, the #7 Buckeyes upset #2 Iowa with a final score of 21-9. The Buckeyes have not beaten the Hawkeyes since 1966. When Tom Brands took over as Iowa’s head coach he referred to Ohio State as the “sleeping giant.” After losing to Nebraska and Minnesota last week, did we witness the awakening of the “sleeping giant” tonight in Columbus?
