Clear Lake is a small town in north central Iowa. The Lions compete in class 2-A within the 3 class system in Iowa. In 2009, the Clear Lake Lion wrestlers earned a third place finish in the state tournament. In addition, Clear Lake placed fourth in the state dual tournament. 2009 saw the Lions graduate one of the best wrestling classes in its history. 2x state champion Joe Colon currently wrestles for Iowa Central. Tucker Weber, a 4x state placewinner now wrestles for the Wartburg Knights. The Lions must also replace state placewinners Pat Kolker, Zach Lindquist, and Steve Scarrow, along with state qualifiers, Joe Bieber and Christian Trebil. The 2009-2010 season has positive outlook, with 3 returning state qualifiers to anchor the team:
