Ben Askren - 2008 United States Olympian!
Arrowhead's own Ben Askren delivered a powerful performance in the United States Freestyle Wrestling Olympic Team Trials to make his first first World level team. He will compete in Beijing on August 20th in the 74kg weight class. Ben's road to the finals started with a bye and then he won 3-0, 1-1 over two-time NCAA champion Donny Pritzlaff. Next was a 1-0, 2-1 victory over Ramico Blackmon. Ben then secured his spot on the Olympic team by defeating former Oklahoma State star Tyrone lewis in a best of three match finals battle. Askren took the first match with a 2-0, 1-0 victory and finished the day with a 2-6, 2-0, 1-0 victory! Max Askren also competed in his first Olympic Team Trials at 96 kg. Max went 0-2 as the No. 5 seed. Max had a first round bye, lost to Damion Hahn 1-0, 5-2 and then to Nik Fekete of New York Athletic Club 1-0, 1-1 and 1-1. Max will be Ben's Olympic training partner in Beijing, China for the Olympic Games.
Big Weekend For Former Arrowhead Standouts At U.S. Freestyle Nationals Both of the Askren brothers surged to the semi-finals of the U.S. Freestyle National Championships this weekend in Las Vegas. Ben Askren registered a 4-0, 5-2 victory over Ryan Churella to enter the finals match and finished off the tournament with a victory over former Oklahoma State standout Tyrone Lewis in the championship bout. Ben claimed his first National title at 74 kilograms with a 3-0, 3-2 victory over Lewis.
Max battled through the qualification tournament on Friday and then won two matches to reach the semis. He fell to Olympian Daniel Cormier and ended up with a 6th place finish for the weekend competing in the 96kg division.
The Askren brothers will go to battle in Vegas again June 12-15 at the United States Olympic Team Trials. On the line will be berths in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Warhawks WIAA Regional Tournament Champions Again! The hawk wrestling team prevailed again over Mukwonago in the WIAA Regional by 20 points. Five grapplers claimed championsips and thirteen wrestlers advanced to the Individual Sectional next weekend in Watertown. The Arrowhead wrestlers will square off against the Spartans of Brookfield East on Tuesday in the WIAA Sectional. The battle will be at Arrowhead in the South Campus Gymnasium at 7:00PM and the winning team will advance to the WIAA State Team Tournament.
Warhawks Secure Conference Dual Meet & Tournament Championships The warhawk wrestlers had a record setting performance in the Conference tournament, sending twelve wrestlers to the finals and claiming sevem individual titles. Jake Sueflohn, James Clark, Arik Yde, Nick Hucke, Chris Senner, Al Yde and Derek Thommesen were champions while, Matt Hoffman, Torsten Nieminen, Eric Herbert, Andre Orr and Dan Meier all placed second. The Hawks were also undefeated in Classic 8 Dual meet competition.
