Neither one of these guys would even know how to stall. They both wrestle their asses off. Don't see why the ref had to get involved.

he was actually sick that day. look for the rematch, and yes i agree the stalling call was a bit lame. it didn't mater though you could tell McD had already lost - he was hurting that day.

Where was Delgado's first stall warning? McD got a warning on bottom but I never saw Delgado's 1st warning to even merit the BS (IMO) call at the end of the match? Maybe I missed it. Plus the caution on top made by the other ref was bad as I saw Delgado time the whistle perfectly. Glad to see him win b/c he won it on the mat despite the poor officials.

wow!!! this kid hung tough and pulled it out even when the ref tried to influence at the end of regulation. mcdonough had to be under the weather though...he just didnt look himself.

He was clearly moving up the body he progressed up the legs to the body and was trying to pop his head over when the ref blew the whistle. Just because your up by 1 with 10 seconds left doesn't mean you have to rush and put your self in bad position. Or do you ..

Even thought the ref clearly favored McDonough, Delgado still pulled off the win. Nice match.

You can see the ref looking at the clock before giving the stalling call, which seemed to be his cue. He just wanted to keep the match going. "Clock watching" shouldn't have an effect on making a stalling call. The ref was basically saying, "Hmmm...I'd like to give this kid a chance, and there are only 5 seconds left. McDonough got the chance, but Delgado was just too good.

These stalling calls are annoying.

weight cut or not Mcdonough is the top contender

Fantastic win by Delgado. Surely a top contender this year. I think any reasonable human would agree that the stall call at the end was absurd. Typical Iowa ref helping the Iowa guy. In this case it didn't work because Delgado seems to be much faster than McDonough on his feet.

Great match. Gosh, those California kids are like lightening bolts on their feet. No wonder so many Cali guys end up doing so well in Freestyle (Mark Schultz, Dave Schultz, Jake Varner, etc). They are defintately tops in the country on their feet -- not on bottom, though. McDonough never even got to Delgado legs. Akl of his points were either defensive or escapes. Delgado shot more, was way more aggressive and quick, which is strange considering Iowa is known for that. But Delgado was just so much slicker on his feet (they were probably even on the mat). The stall call at the end was bogus. It's one call in folkstyle that is just stupid -- too subjective and haphazard. Should institute pushout like freestyle.

Delgado was in a splitting the base situation with McDonough having a whizzer. Good moves by both. No stalling.

At 8:38 Delgado has both of McD 's leg with Delado's head by McD's waist. The ref stops the match at 8:55 and he is around the ankle and his head is basically in the same spot and he barely moved during this time. I mean how much more time does he need to move up. Delgado is clearly stalling. Read the rule book its rule 5.10.3.

Stall call was bs He was moving up. Look where he was when the joker called it. In great position. Right wrestler won the bout.

The stall call in the 3rd period was the right call. Delgado held the position for 17 seconds and didnt move up if anything it should of be called soonner

I agree with Don Moody, I think McDonough is cutting too much weight.

IOwa got a homer stall call to end regulation with :4-6 seconds to go? Kid was basically in a navy ride moving up the body. He deserved to win. Not sure how hawkeye fans can play the out of shape card. Numerous unneeded breaks in that bout to get your wind back. Good win but will probably get majored next time
