Here's what it is. PA is unique because we have a huge population with many schools and almost every one has a wrestling team. Like NY, OH, and VA we are large population states and cold winter states. The difference with PA and OH, and getting closer in VA, is wrestling interest. When states with large populations garner interest in a sport like wrestling you have something special - like PA. The kids in these states, culture wise, are the same, the primary difference is the kinds of programs these kids are involved with, and PA has huge and highly supported programs. I'm not knocking the rest - I wish these programs existed everywhere! I'm just saying that across the board NY hasn't developed dominant programs yet, great wrestlers, but not dominant programs - but they have potential! |

NY can travel out of the state during the season. They just have to be at a tournament that is sanctioned. This means that NY State does not allow their public school teams to compete at tournaments where there are private schools like Blair Academy competing. It is an awkward rule but before the rule was created, a team from NY used to compete at the Beast of the East back in 2002. There have been teams that even competed in the Penn-Cambria Sheetz Classic (a few years back), the PowerAde tournament (a couple of years ago) and the Top Hat tournament (this year). Some top programs in NY seek out the best of the best. And we continually have top recruits who go on to All-American at NCAA D-I nationals. I believe this is enough evidence to support the statement that NYS is and will continue to be a regular scholastic power in wrestling. |

to defend new york a little....The Realbuto v. Dance score at flonationals was 6-1. Do all NYers make up facts to support their unjustifiable arguements? |

I cant help notice how much better Dance has gotten since last year. He couldnt even push Jimmy last year. Didnt he major Keener in the semis too. I think Keener beat him at the Powerade last year. I have been wathcing this kid wrestle for the past year or so and he just keeps getting better. |

These two guys are loads of fun to watch I don't know if I have ever seen a 1-2 OT match that was so exciting. Would like to see another round with dance on the bottom to see if he could get out. I think with Jimmy getting the stall warning I would have chose the down position and won by a stall point though. Jimmy just held on to his leg in OT and probably would have been in the same position in the ride out. |

I like this Dance kid. Saw him wrestle at Ironman. Dude has nerves of steel. Cool as a cucumber in a bowl of hot sauce! Great match guys! |

Jimmy needs to move his hands and feet more. He hangs ties and is wide open for a duck. In addition, he should focus on finishing a single leg. That kid could have kicked out multiple times. He will be tough at the next level but has a lot of work. Good luck JimmyI wouldnt say wide open to a duck considering no one has done this in 3 at the highest level of high school competition! You are critiquing him from one match Gulibon dominates on his feet! |
