Iowa booed - oh no! Funny that the most booed college wrestling program is Iowa. It has always been Iowa versus everyone else because evryone else is sick of them being at the top or near the top. The Iowa stall, never heard of it until this post - Iowa style is in your face and pressure and pressure and more pressure - that is the Iowa way or the Gable way. The some of the most successfull programs and coaches are all disciples of Gable. There is not one Iowa fan that disagrees with how good Dake is, but he stalled and did not make a mistake of getting out of position and therefore DSJ could not make him pay.

I would pay David Taylor one million dollars to cut weight and trash this y punk; but not until he graduated of course.

Oh and Kyle Dake has given up two points in two years at the National Tourney. Also pinned his way to the National title this year for those of you who think he stalls...seems to me like he knows how to get things done and causes Iowa and Penn State fans a lot of grief!

Husker John you are totally correct. There has even been articles on how far back their relationship goes; although it would be great to see it will probably never happen. Kyle and David are friends and both want to see the other be successful. Best of luck to both of them.

Taylor got manhandled by Cyler Sanderson during his redshirt year. The video is on youtube, so check it out. Sanderson, who was never one of the top D1 wrestlers, crushed Taylor 11-4. Dake has never been handled like that. Dake has never been pinned, either. Dake is more of a tactical wrestler, whereas Taylor takes pride in humiliating vastly inferior competition. Taylor runs around like a chicken with his head cut off, whereas Dake is more careful. That's why Dake has never been pinned in the NCAA finals.

St. John is a great wrestler, but he stalls too much (Iowa-style stalling: hand fighting and pushing). Dake was the 2x ncaa champ, so the onus was on St.John to do the work to take it away from Dake. But St. John chose the Iowa stall. St. John's strategy was to keep it close, then score at the very end so Dake wouldn't have time to get some points. Very bad strategy aganist Dake. Dake's defense and counter-offense are just too good, and waiting till the end to get points on a guy like Dake is just plain stupid.

It was Derek St. Stall from Iowa....I don't think he even took a combined 5 shots the entire tournament....Kid is such a boring stalling defensive wrestler...Way worse than Dake....Hell even Taylor complained that St. John does nothing but stall the entire match.

dake is the man. he doesnt care about comparisons to other weights he just goes out and dominates with 4+ minutes of riding time. he wins 4-0 all the time but its much less close than that. hed beat taylor cause taylor wouldnt be able to score on him. think about molinaros attacks compared to taylors and how badly dake dominated molinaro.

David Taylor would def beat Dake... idk if he would kill him though. Taylor is just too good at getting to peoples legs and finishing... dake has great hips and defense but when somebody shoots low singles and ankle picks hips do not play as much of a factor in stopping the takedown

Dake is certainly still just a kid. I don't care what people say, he isn't supposed to be a "man", maybe next year.

The argument that Dake only wins by small margins and therefore isn't as good as taylor who scores by large margins is a testament, not to skill level, but to strategy.
To say that Dake is not a good wrestler is ridiculous, to say that he would get "dominated" by taylor is also equally ridiculous. Speculate all you want, but a Dake V Taylor match would be very interesting, currently they are at different weights however, and the match would probably go with Taylor.
Remember the score of Taylor and St John-- very simialr to the score of Dake and St John.
Dake works out everyday, has been wrestling since he was 2 (or something) 2 time state champ, 3 time finalist. He is good. Dake's highschool resume is not as prestigious as Taylor's, but Dake has the intangible's--the drive to not lose and win.
Taylor does too, but in a match between these two skilled wrestlers, the fundamental characteristic that would determine the winner is the mental state, or in other words, the confidence and motivation to beat the other
