While in the warmup area Terry Brands was sparring with Victor Banzarakshaen, a Russian who has finished 5th and 3rd in the Russian Nationals. He and his coach Maksim Molonov are both friends of Flowrestling and provide tremendous support during all trips to Russia for Russian Nationals. After the session Terry talks to flowrestling about what he feels when wrestling with athletes from other countries. He also talks about how many countries have different styles and they are unique but non are really better than the other.

What Brands says about what is instilled in them growing up is absolutely brilliant. I do believe a good part of why the Russians have had so much success is mental(brains and focus) and heart. I do believe they see the sport much different from we do as we tend to take it for granted. |

Come on Freddy......... although everyone is entitled to their opinion, I think I'll take what Terry Brands thinks over you. (Respectfully of course) His credentials speak for themselves and "did well" is a pretty loose term. I know .500 wrestlers that say "they did well". |

i respectfully disagree with terry brands. i've wrestled for 15 years in the US, did well in college, placed in National-level tournaments. In my club, here in the US, we have Russians who live here in the US and only trained casually in Russia for 3 or 4 years. Some of them only learned wrestling through their intermural clubs in grade school. They, however, are just as good, if not better than me and most other experienced wrestlers in my club. Our American method is not as good as theirs; sure there is a mentality component, but whatever it is that the Russians are teaching is waaay more efficient/effective than what we are being taught here. |

Thanks Joe. You guys have changed the game with all of your coverage but especially when it comes to the "behind-the-scenes" stuff like this and snapshots of the best rooms around the country. Its much more effective for a kid to see how they do it in Stillwater, Carver-Hawkeye or Moscow rather than having a coach preach to them all the time. Go Flo |

This is why Terry Brands is truly the best coach in our country right now, he focuses on every aspect of sport. Great job Joe and Flowrestling. Best interview to date in my opinion. Outstanding! |

UNBELIEVABLE! Joe, you have surpassed yourself in this interview. Not only did you ask pointed questions, but you knew when to shut up and the action and Terry speak for themselves. I am very impressed how you have been improving as a Median for wrestlers. Keep improving - good job. |

FloWrestling is the best this that has happened to wrestling in a long while. The old school guys never got access to anything like this. Our kids are watching this! Our FUTURE is watching this! Just posting videos like this and getting it out there for our wrestlers to learn from is platinum. Words of wisdom from one of the best wrestlers and coaches USA ever had. Thanks Flo! |
