Damn! Video isn't working! I always love the Coach Krause videos! I hope it gets fixed soon!
I yell, scream and show emotion. However, I battle for every kid. I tell them when I'm yelling and screaming for them to win or improve, that's a good thing. It means I care. I also tell them they should be more worried about when I'm not yelling or screaming, when they are losing or messing up, not just on the mat but in life. That means I don't care anymore. All kids are different. Some respond to yelling, some respond to not saying a word. A good coach is the one who finds how to do it all. I may look like a total jerk when I coach my own son, but what people don't know is, that after each match, my son and I can talk about a match, work on mistakes and work to fix them, in a calm setting.Kids these days are taught to try and remain calm at all times and show no emotion. Problem is, there are times when intensity is needed and emotion needs to be involved, in order to overcome adversity. Again, finding the middle ground, should be the goal.
