Boring match. I think the current international rules really hurt Americans. The ball grab absolutely sucks. I think it is the worst rule in any sport. Bar none

Video By USA Wrestling. Check out the Gold action at the 2012 FILA Pan American Olympic Qualifier in the 66 KG division with Brent Metcalf of USA vs. Haslan Garcia of CAN. TheMat.TV
People are focusing too much on his style and not the real reason he lost the match. He turked the leg while his head was underneath. That is what cost him the match
Yes, Metcalf was a poor loser and we've seen that before, but Garcia was just as bad. As to the wrestling, I thought Metcalf had made some strides in freestyle over the last year, but this was a step back for him, and he looked a lot like he has in most of his losses. A lot of hanging on the head, no shots to speak of, and then when he did get to his offense, he fails to finish, gets extended, and the other guy turns him. It's got to be frustrating, because Garcia did zilch in this match. Still, Metcalf has a long way to go if he expects to make the Olympic team and earn a medal in London. There are a lot of wrestlers like Garcia out there, and if you can't put points on the board against them, you're destined to get the bad end of a couple of ball draws and lose. At this point, 66 kilos is our weakest weight. Now that it's qualified for London, I'd love to see Metcalf--or someone--turn the corner and start getting some results.
