Exactly. Hence the word "seemingly." Many masters of their craft, like Satiev, seem to defy fundementals at times. Hendrix learned to play the guitar upside down. |

Mike, The only time Gable and Douglas was whendouglas was a seasoned international wrestlers and Gable was a college youngster. A couple years out of college Gable destroys Douglas. Always surprises me when people bring this up. Douglas had a finite period of time which evaporated quickley as Gable entered the international style. . |

Eric would give the defending olympic champion a go I'm sure. This reminds me of an opportunity much like the D shultz / K Monday wars from back in the day. (or maybe Gable / Douglas) Well now you know that I was alive in the 60's. |

Guerrero works from seemingly poor head position a lot. His speed and slickness allow him to get away with it. Don't know if I would teach kids that, though.A lot of the difference is the international style vs. collegiate style. You give up the head position to set up throws and counters. Bait the man to attack because he feels he has position and then counter and score points. |

"Seemingly Bad" Head Position?

Guerrero works from seemingly poor head position a lot. His speed and slickness allow him to get away with it. Don't know if I would teach kids that, though.Guerrero is a 3x NCAA champ and you're going to criticize his "Seemingly bad" head position? Do you ever watch the Russian? Say... Mavlet Batirov (2x Olympic, 3x world champ)??? Go look at his head position and come back with some more "seemingly bad" coaching tips. The Russian's teach their kids to wrestle with the same position, why shouldn't we? After all, they did crush the rest of the world in 2010 by winning 5 of 7 weights at the World Championships. |

hvolbeck was hit for stalling in the first period because he had the ankle trapped for 5 seconds and didn't do anything. don't complain about the refs just because a match didn't go your way, the refs tonight were great. |

Yep!!!

1. Mavlet's Single from the elbow (as well as his 45% angle head positioning) |

I like this kind of a workout. I feel like you have to be at a certain level before you can really get a good workout this way though. Trying to get athletes to work this stuff can be challenging. A lot of athletes have learned through the step 1,2,3,4...approach. Getting guys to feel their way through various situations, rather than drilling A, B and C, is important to developing high level wrestlers and teams. |
