Coleman Scott and Shawn Bunch met for one of the most epic battles ever. The two wrestlers met in a 2 out of 3 match series with the winner earning a spot to to 2012 London Olympic Games. The 3 match series was woven into a dual meet between USA and Russia in the center of Times Square! USA won the dual meet with a dramatic pin at heavyweight and then fans were treated to the final match in the Olympic qualifier. Check out the winning score and let us know what you think about it, how would you have scored this?

i wrestled with bunch under flynn and roselli(love all 3) and was rooting for bunch all of the way but scott gets the win......oh well....at least scott and i are both from the WPIAL...ill root for him for that reason in addition to the fact he represents our awesome country!

Thanks for the broadcast schedule. Direct Tv has it listed as arm wrestling in the epg but at least we get to see it.

Amari Sengsavanh 11 months ago

who scored?

Anonymous Coward 11 months ago

There was no back arch. for me thats 3 points. still a great move.

nonrompere 11 months ago

@Andy Pappadopoulos
do you have the link to that video?

Beat the Streets 11 months ago

There will be a full broadcast on June 21st at 8pm on NBC Sports Network with an additional airing To Be Announced. They have rights to the footage until then, and that's why you don't see the full matches anywhere right now. Once it airs, we'll post them.

A year or so ago Coleman and Bunch were wrestling in New York. Coleman hit a 5 pointer, with double unders, feet to back. Perfect . Bunch landed on his back. Refs called it a one point push out for Bunch. Horrible call. Cost Coleman the match. Cool video, look it up. Good to see the ref's finely getting one right. I have always wondered why they get it wrong so many times with the replay. Also, all Bunch has is his push out. Does not really even wrestle. Looks like Coleman was the only one even trying on offense. Bunch just relies on his speed and quickness to get out of trouble. Coleman finally got his number.

What move do you think Coleman is going to have to show at OSU Wrestling Camp at the end of the month?

Andy Pappadopoulos 11 months ago

5 points all day. Feet to back. If he would have been in bounds would have been a pin.

Clearly Scott gets the points here. How can this even be an argument for Bunch? Points go to the aggressor...not the defender.

Wilman 11 months ago

Not sure how Flynn or Roselli could have thought that was 3 for Bunch. Clearly Coleman initiated the move and further controlled it from start to finish. However I wouldn't have been surprised one bit if it would have been called 3 for Bunch. I truly despise the subjectivity of the Olympic style and scoring system.

"How to teach that", to see that single leg finish broken down, just do a Flo search for "Behind the Dirt 96K"

Visionquest 11 months ago

If Bunch would have somehow came out on top during this scramble instead of being what looks like cradled, I could see how he could get the points. Since Scott appears to be in control when the dust settles, I can see how he is awarded the points. Its no different when people shoot doubles and the opponent locks around the waist when they hit the mat he tries to hip him over to avoid being taken down and earn exposure in the process.

matt 11 months ago

funny, looks like Flynn and Roselli thought it was 3 for Bunch.

How would you teach that? 11 months ago

That particular single leg finish/exposure.. Shelf the captured foot all the way on your outside thigh and pop hips while looking to dump?? What details am I missing?

Btw that looks similar to a finish a Russian heavy used at nationals that was featured in a "behind the dirt" segment last year.

Seems like they were handing 5 point moves on this night. Not trying to take anything away from the athletes but I have seen some substantial 5 point throws and when I saw these particular throws, I couldn't help but to think otherwise. Maybe it's a different criteria in freestyle because a 5 point move is rare.

storppey 11 months ago

that's what all the talk is about?? 5 point move? not that impressive

Anonymous Coward 11 months ago

NBC does not understand wrestling. They should be showing this stuff now.

Anonymous Coward 11 months ago

NBC has all the rights to the video.

didnt see the match live and dont know how to see the video, who has it, was on universal sports and cant get to the link for previously aired events, I hate this about the sport and just want to see the match, is it on youtube.

5 point by definition 11 months ago

I think this one was 5 because he controlled him throughout the move, described a broad curve in the air and put him in immediate danger .... but Frayer not.

Article 40 - High amplitude throw
Any action or hold by a wrestler in the standing position is deemed to
be a ‘grande amplitude’ throw when:
- it causes his opponent to lose all contact with the ground, controls
him, makes him describe a broadly sweeping curve in the air, and
brings him to the ground in a direct and immediate danger position
- in the “par terre” position, any complete lift from the ground executed
by the attacking wrestler, whether the attacked wrestler lands belly
down (3 points) or in a danger position (5 points), is also considered
a grand amplitude throw

Hey Flo Guys 11 months ago

Do any of you know where we can get some full matches? NBC Olympics.com maybe? Universal sports? Fox College sports? If you know where these matches are available PLEASE post. I think everyone in the wrestling community would appreciate it

Anonymous Coward 11 months ago

feel so bad for bunch...but he has to move more on his feet he just stood there

Anon coward 11 months ago

Actually.....the only question is "Where is the rest of the match?" Who is telling flo they can't post the footage from the matches? The more accessible it is to watch our olympians wrestle, the better it is for the sport. Are the Beat the Street matches available on another site? if so, Where?

IndyRR 11 months ago

The only question is whether it was "short" or "high" amplitude. Bunch's feet went over his head and he was immediately in danger, but it wasn't the usual high arching throw we are used to seeing score 5. Still, you gotta give Scott a lot of credit here. He went for it during a big moment in the match and the move paid off in a big way. Very impressed by what he and Frayer did.

Is there anywhere we can see tape of all the matches?

arm-spin 11 months ago

I scored it 5 but I don't think 3 is unreasonable. Definitely no points for Bunch.

3 point touch fall

PA M2 Official 11 months ago

This is 1st off all of Colemans move. 3 and out of bounds match .
its has room for a five, from this video its unclear how much of an arch is created.

william kucinski 11 months ago via Flosports for iOS

not sure that it was I 5 point move, but certainly it was colemans move.
