Blair Academy head coach Jeff Buxton gets mic'd up during a championship finals match at the Walsh Jesuit Ironman Tournament. At 113lbs Blair wrestler Joey McKenna wrestled against Nathan Tomasello.
Slam- yes, definitely. By definition, it is returning your opponent to the mat with unnecessary force, and I think this meets the criteria. I am surprised that he didn't ask why the slam call was not made, and also to see if the ref's assistant could have offered an opinion. . . the reason being is that the ref may have been too close to have the best perspective, and the assistant may have been in better position.Comments re officials were likely not intended for anyone besides his assistant, even though he was mic'd. That being said, what is average? Is every ref at the NCAAs an outstanding official? Or are they average NCAA tournament officials? Obviously Buxton was not impressed with the refs at this tournament. Quite honestly, officials are pretty brutal when discussing each other as well, especially to their faces!Whizzer situation- Buxton was not in position to see. The kids ended up practically in his lap, and it is tougher to see everything when you are too close. (For example, it is easier to see a pin with a cradle when you back up.) He obviously had little confidence in the ref, and was likely arguing more than just that call. He also made the comment about the kid showing the referee that his opponent was running him off that mat, for the ref's ears. Not something that a coach would typically say with a veteran official on the mat.
Coach Buxton should have been thrown off the mat. You can't challenge a refs judgement call, only their application of the rules. He's right, they are average at best for not getting rid of him.
So I sat and watched this about 30 times before making a judgement...#1 Coach Buxton as a person is not the questionable call here, he is and always has been a class act on and off the mat. He is entitled to his opinion after the amount of years he's been coaching, he's seen enough referees in his time. This video is for review of the match, nothing more, it's to help our sport and I'm certain a lot of referees are watching this now because of flo.#2 The so-called "slam" in the beginning isn't really questionable. Nathan had a good shot and lifted Joey off the mat but not very high, his foot was only 10 inches or so off the mat. I do not see any use of unreasonable force, in college this happens all the time. He got the wind knocked out of him because Tomasello landed on his solar-plexus, it wasn't because he slammed him, it was because of where he landed on him. It was just a hard takedown and does not look intentional by any means. Clearly they flow into the takedown, had he jumped off the mat then yea it'd be a slam but he slid and back-arched to cut the corner for the TD.#3 The inside trip - Very questionable call. Had Mckenna pulled the low-leg up, limp-armed and worked back to the legs instead of laying into Tomasello I think he would have had the two points undoubtedly. His hip was also on the mat for a split second, which allowed for Nathan to regroup and get to the side. I believe the refs were a bit slow to call this one, and had they replayed this and stopped it at 1:12 of this video you clearly see Joey with his head height and in control.Great match, maybe we need instant replay like they do in International... :) Great stuff Flo!
I have had the opportunity to Coach along side Jeff at a few national events and bring some of my wrestlers to Blair to train. In my 25 plus years of coaching I haven't found anyone with the insight , knowledge base and ability to deal with all different style wrestlers like he can. Anyone that has anything negative to say has never spent anytime with the man.
how can you say buxton doesn't develop wrestlers. Nobody denies that they get good wrestlers to start with, but you can clearly see the work of blair coaching. All their wrestlers wrestle a very similar style, which means that it has been taught to them, not that they had it coming into highschool. The coaching is evident in the similar style that every blair wrestler displays.

.These are much not the same as those used when i was younger of golf matches, these balls are quite much a lot more responsive not to mention durable, plus last longer when compared to the former balls.
There's a lot of good and famous producers of baseballs.Just to mention a handful of; Maxfli, Mary Hogan, Principle, Nike, Callaway, Mizuno, and other. These makers employ a vast range of balls utilizing competitive poor quality. Most from the balls nowadays come with super-features such as having thermoplastic urethane as covers not to mention having titanium, dime or cobalt cores.
