Dave Dean has traveled a tough road to get MYWay into the position it is. Currently he has built a organization with around 10,000 wrestlers. He has done it by offering first and foremost a great product. He has learned once you take care of your customer you just grow. He has had his battles with USA wrestling and has decided to make his business plan into something different. HE gives back to the state and feels like the current state of USA wrestling biases Iowa and Oklahoma schools.

What a class act guy with a great Idea. If embraced by every wrestler, coach and parent in every state our great sport of wrestling will be changed forever. The days of colleges losing programs would be over. How difficult is it to figure out?? The money stays in state!!! Money that is collected in the state from the athletes is redistributed to the athletes. Currently in California if a Cadet or Junior Athlete wins their weight class at the state Fargo qualifier, that athlete is required to pay 1400 dollars to cover plane tickets, hotels, gear etc etc. With USA cards costing 45 dollars a bop, plus copper and bronze coaching cards and coaching cards themselves, why in the heck are the champs having to pay anything at all?????? This is just one small point of what Dave is talking about!!! Why can't monies collected from the athletes of that particular state be redtributed to at least the derserving athletes!! We are NUWAY.....SCWAY all the way!!!!!!!!! It makes since!!!!! |

Wrestling has been at the USOEC since Robin Ersland was the coach when there still was a Division II program there. USOEC wrestling has been at Northern Michigan for over 20 years. That's a fact. |

The the northern michigan training center is is on a small isthmus of land extending out into Lake Superior. You drive through hours and hours of forested countryside to get there. One of the great beauties of the place is how far from any significant civilization it is, just like the scene out of the Rocky movie where he is training in Siberia, for away from any distractions. |

Doesn't Michigan have the USOEC Olympic training center sponsored by USA wrestling? Oklahoma or Iowa doesn't have this... |

California is forming now. Once we make it work it will sweep the nation. Not because we are great but because we are so big. If we can make this a great organization in California I see more states signing on. |

This needs to stay on the top page so more states can be informed about it. |

Dave must have some pretty strong feelings to talk about this in the open. I asked him why he left MSU. I was expecting him to say something about Minkel but he said it was because he had an opportunity to be a better father. True class. |

Absolutely awesome. I wish Illinois would think this way. They have their heads so far up USA wrestling's butt, you smell the stink at every tournament. |

Sounds like a very good program that benefits state wrestlers. |

Anonymous Coward. I struggle to think what MSU would be like with Dave and Chandler running the program there. It is a shame that it will never happen. They would have built a dynasty. I think they are in so many other ways. You just can't overcome some things. |

About 15 years ago, when msu finished third at ncaa's, i went to there intensive camp and to graduate the camp you had to run 12 miles. Well i was a soft freshaman 215 pounder. so needless to say it took me a long time to finish this run, i was to say like 4 hours( i was not last though) and he waited the whole time for me to finish and gave me a pat on the back and my tee shirt.. and then at a tournament he was recruiting someone he remembered me and came and chatted with me. my b-team teammates were like holy smokes.. i had that " lion and gazelle, wake up and run": shirt untill i got kicked off my college team for bad grades as a sophmore. |

his vision has been steadfast & committed to the development of wrestling in the state of michigan. there is something to learn from his plan & more people from other states should jump on board. makes sense to me. invest at home and reap the benefits in the future. |

i'm not going to pretend like i know the whole story behind the issue, but at least the situation is being addressed. And i hope flowrestling keeps giving more interviews about the financial backing and administrative action of the sport so that we can save the sport of wrestling from dying or being isolated to a few various states. |
