Barry has been a class act since his days at Cedar Rapids Prairie HS in Iowa and throughout his success at the U. of Iowa, right on to the Olympic Silver in 1984.
He's all heart and has always just loved wrestling...he worked his @$$ off as a wrestler and now he's doing it as the UW coach. And he gives credit right away to his assistants!!! Has always been one of my heroes from the cornfields of Iowa!!
And he always remembers who you are and talks to you....

Class act and well deserved, one of my high school idols and from everything I have heard as great a person off the mat as he is on it. Huge props to Barry Davis a true legend in the sport. Great choice, can't even begin to imagine the emotions he has gone thru this year.

You are a soulless bastard. As a Hawkeye fan, I'm glad it went to Barry Davis. Not just because of what he's been through, losing his brother, but because his team performed very well, and he's a very deserving recipient. He's a champion at heart, and he is a great coach, and the deserving 2009-2010 NWCA Coach of the Year.

so ridiculous how tom brands didn't win...he produced 3 champs, 2 runner-ups, n 8 all-americans, all in one season. i can't believe a wisconsin coach who didn't do half as well got it...prolly cuz he cried during howe's match.

Once a Hawkeye, always a Hawkeye. Iowa City is happy to see you win that award.

I've known Barry since his high school days at Prarie. He always has been, and always will be a first class individual. He destroyed me at a freestyle tournament once. After the match he was showing me moves on what I did wrong and how to improve myself. I'll never forget that. He is also one of the funniest guys I've ever known.

This is the most powerful interview on Flo I have ever watched. Barry Davis is and will always be my favorite Hawkeye of all-time in the way that he competed and to this day the way he coaches. Barry exhibited and energy level that was unmatched, a true love for competition.

I am not ashamed to admit that my eyes teared up watching this as I felt so badly for Barry losing his brother this past winter, very sad moment. God Bless you Barry and THANK YOU for inspiring me to always give everything I have on and off the mat. You are truly my hero.
