Implementation of 2 rule changes in folk style at the youth level and up would aid our international wrestling presence.#1 Make a push out rule in folk style and make its worth equivalent to a 2 point take down.#2 Make a 10 second riding/escape/reversal rule. if you dont score backs or an escape/ reversal in 10 secs then you get stood back up. if you are scoring while on top then as soon a youve either maxed out your 5 back points or bottom man has bellied down then 10 seconds starts again Penalizing both top and bottom man for a lack of scoring.Let every thing else remain the same with folk style.

Great point. As soon as the US stops whining, the US will start winning. And to Niche, YOU CAN NOT BE A WRESTLER! For the very basis of wrestling is over coming adversity and having a greater role in the shaping of ones own destiny.Your comment says your quitting cause you cant win.Fact is the US's better athletes are are doing other sports that are more lucrative. Go watch that exhibition match between Askren and Herbert.Athletes of Jordan Burroughs' caliber are fighting, playing football or basketball. Its a wonder he (JB) even continues to wrestle.Flo Wrestling should do a series exposing how our wrestlers are "taken care of" when competing overseas or training here at home. How many of us die hard wrestling fans would be shocked and sickened to find that Sadegh Goudarzi was rewarded far more handsomely for his second place silver than JB will be rewarded for his first place gold. This has got to be rectified
Anyone who has ever wrestled knows that even if you leave the mat for a few weeks what it can do to muscle memory. You all should not knock Cael for stepping back on the mat and praise him for the courage it has taken. Olympics are a year out. You all know the more you wrestle the better you get. You should pat the man on the back for all he's done and stop running your mouth about a man that brought home a gold medal! It take true guts to do what Cael has done...
Some of you people on here are ding dongs. Cael just started back to wrestling THIS YEAR. He will train and come back even stronger next year for the Olympics. If you don't think he won't then you are ed. This will motivate him to come back stronger and win the GOLD next year.
Shut the hell up with the change high school to freestyle and greco. That would be a horrible idea. Freestyle and greco are so miserable to watch by comparison. Stall...stall...stall...ball grab.
You should also include Cael's "unstoppable move" in the technique section above because Sharifov actually shows how to stop it.Still overall Cael is right there with every guy in the weight. He could have won this match with just a couple adjustments. The bronze match was so very winnable. Cael is the man for coming back and had everything to lose and not a whole lot to gain. Still he did it and I respect him even more for giving it a shot. I really, really hope he gives the Olympics a go. He can certainly win it.
This guy is in the championship match, looks like he is pretty good, goingto carry cael back into the tournament.
Cael came out firing and struck first with an ankle pick attempt which became a nice set up to a drive double. It looked like how so many Cael matches start out but Sharifov kept his cool and scored a top notch takedown to what looked like off a sloppy front headlock position. It was a great set up. Towards the end of the first period Cael looked to have a great position advantage (1:53) with 30 seconds to go in the first period after taking an errant shot. He could not capitalize as Sharifov had a whizzer and was able to get out of danger by squaring his hips. With time winding down Cael aggressively looking for a takedown has several angles and opportunities against Sharifov from a scramble but just quite cant get a "go behind" he gets caught wide open with an opportunistic Sharifov double. Cael goes for broke on his counter but Sharifov has it covered. In the beginning of the second period (3:26) Sharifov gets in on a an extended high crotch. Cael looks to have a bit of an angle and that is when it gets interesting. Cael looks to initiate the roll at (3:29). The ref gives it to Sharifov. Cael's corner and Cael himself seem to consider challenge the call and for one reason or another he doesnt challenge. Cael looks clearly annoyed at 4:18 as he looks back to his corner before the restart. The rest of the period is Cael trying to play catch up. He needs 3 takedowns to win or a 2 point move. AZE shoots a sloppy reaching shot and Cael is in good position with his hips back. (4:40) Cael gives up the position to go for a roll that I would call "junk" if it werent Cael Sanderson wrestling. (4:45). This makes it extremely hard at this point for Cael.Cael finds a low ankle of Sharifov after a low single attempt. Sharifov rubber knees Cael. Cael switches to a higher double and Sharifov tries to bump Cael out of position. Cael keeps strong position and inches toward the backside and finally Sharifov falls to his belly. Its too little too late as Cael only has a couple of ticks on the clock and the AZE is somehow awarded another takedown in a scramble because of a junk call by the Fila Ref at 6:05. #whypeoplehatefilafreestyle
Cael was breathing out of hi s mouth. perhaps the cutting of weight & nerves? I t was an obvious co2 issue at times, technique was faded fast at certain flurries. He's still a true champ, Be kind.
