if i had a wrestler like montel marion i would have a lot more great things to say about him. brands has made marion do stuff that the average person wouldnt think of doing.

How can you possibly criticize Tom Brands' coaching style? Idk maybe his 3 National Team Titles as the head coach of Iowa aren't enough proof that what he does works. Tom Brands does not put down any of his wrestlers, he is merely trying to make them better. If his wrestlers didn't believe in his coaching, they would just leave! They don't fear him, they respect him. Clearly you have no idea whats going on "Thoughts".... So, "HMMM"... You must also know the best way to coach a college wrestling team. Dang, you probably know what is the best way to make guys better when the lose too! Until, you have coached 3 National Champ teams, i think you should keep your wise words to yourself.

So leaving the mat when Lofthouse is winning is OK? Chasing Lofthouse down the tunnel when he loses to MN and screaming at him is OK? I could list a ton of other examples when the guys lose.

What are you smoking? Brands never says anything bad about his guys. He said all the guys do the same things as McDonough. Brands was basically set up to rip Montell Marion by the questioner and he praises him. He praises Tony Ramos all the time.
When they lose, he answers questions honestly. Is that criticizing them? If so, it's the same thing JRob and Sanderson do. John Smith criticizes his guys more than anyone and look at his success (just not this year).
Downslide? Their team score would have won the national championship in half of the past 6 years. They'll be back on top soon enough.

I know Brands is a hard &*%, but the fact that he always criticsizes his wrestlers is part of the reason his team is not wrestling to their potential. You never see that out of JRob and Sanderson, they are always building their wrestlers up and the wrestlers have respect for them instead of being fearful they will NEVER be good enough or perfect enough. They are just young men/student athletes. His team will continue the downslide because half his guys will buy into the fear and half will not. Holy crap he left the mat when Lofthouse was wrestling and winning and in the tunnel. Shameful!!

Marion has nothing to be ashamed of. I'm not a hawks fan but Montell was pure excitement, but he holds far greater things inside his heart for his life.
