The Iowa Hawkeyes had a rough weekend last week as they dropped matches to both Ohio State and Penn State on the road. Flowrestling picked their Big Live Dual series back up as they headed out the the University of Wyoming to see the Cowboys battle with Cal Poly. The Flonationals majors are over and Flonationals will take place on March 31 and April 1 at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

I think it's a pre 3rd loss question (possibly premature but Minn this weekend would be 3) and I will ask it as I have not seen or found a answer. When was the last time they lost 3 strait? |

On the wrestling front, PSU fans for years wondered why PSU was not a perenial top 5 or top 3 team, as we watched wrestler after wrestler from PA high schools go out of state for their collegiate careers. When the announcement of Cael's hiring hit the news, many people thought this news story was a prank. When this news was finally confirmed . . . I was very elated. Cael has done a fantastic job, winning a National Championship in just his second year. Here is one thing that is clear . . . NCAA wrestling is not just Iowa anymore. Just look at this year . . . Cornell beats Minn . . . .Minn beats PSU . . . PSU wins Southern Scuffle (placing finalists in 5 weights and claiming 4 champions . .. . Iowa wiins the Midlands (placing finalists in 5 weights and claiming 4 runner-ups. . . . Okla St beats Iowa on a new tie-breaker rule . . .. Ohio St has a super recruiting season . . . and beats Iowa . . .then 2 nights later . . .PSU over Iowa. No one can deny that Iowa set the bar under Dan Gable. But, for now, the competition is rising up. The other colleges have responded to the challenge. What an exciting year of wrestling. Thanks for all you do to promote the sport. If I had a son that wrestled, we would register for the video instruction in a heartbeat. I recommend FLO to every high school wrestler I come in contact with. |

1. Iowa lost 2 in a row, 3 out of last 5. They had 2 dual meets between Okie St and Ohio St & PSU. I would think you would get that right. 2. Joe Flo: Watch "Memorial for Joe" on BTN. Phil Knight has it exactly right. So, here's the facts. The law in Pennsylvania was cited in the Grand Jury report on Sandusky. Here's the link: http://law.onecle.com/pennsylvania/domestic-relations/00.063.011.000.html. Essentially this says that if an educator suspects child abuse then he/she should report it to the administration. Then, the law expressly says that the administration should assume responsibility for a report to be made, or cause to be made, within 48 hours. Joe Pa did exactly that. And, note that Joe was not an actual witness to the event. And the subject of the case, Sandusky, had not even been on Joe's staff for 4 years. He had second hand information. If Curley and Schulz had followed thru with their responsibility as outlined in the law cited above, this provlem would have been over with long ago. Or . . . maybe not . . . recently it has come to light that there were 4, yes 4, Grand Jury investigations. How many lawyers, witnesses, etc, etc, have there been? I don't know. We may hear more about this soon. In a related/unrelated story (take your pick) PSU General Counsel Cynthia Baldwin resigned. OK, so it took 4 Grand Jury investigations. Do you have any idea how much investigation was required? I don't have a clue. My guess it's enormous . . . but JoePa should have done more? Puh-leeeze. As a second hand witness he did exactly what his responsibility was to do - report it to the administration. To do more, would arguably been the irresponsible thing to do. Check out "A Strong Defense of Joe Paterno" at http://thatlawyerdude.blogspot.com/2011/11/strong-defense-of-joe-paterno-why.html. JoePa was a scapegoat for a media driven kangaroo court, and the jury (PSU BOT) caved under the pressure. JoePa was a great, great man. Listen to the testimonies. 10000 free tickets went out to the public for the memorial service, and they were gone is 7 minutes. How many lives were affected in a positive way? Thousands easity. Ten's of thousands likely. Probably in the hundreds of thousands. Phil Knight said "If there's a villian in this . . . it's the investion . . . . not in Joe Paterno. " |

What's with the Bader hate? The Three Amigos above do more for this sport then anyone else. How about some appreciation? Bader and Joe are both great guys who actually work very hard and take pride in what they do. Now as for Martin... I've never met him but I heard he drowns puppies in his bathtub. ;) |
