Ali Bernard is now a 2x Olympian and is gunning for a medal in this year's Games. She was also a 2011 world bronze medalist and knows that she can hang with anyone in the world. USA head women's coach Terry Steiner believes in Ali and says its the things that you can't teach, toughness, and scrambling.

22-year-old Ali Bernard (72kg/158.5 lbs) defeated Katie Downing in two
straight matches to earn her first Olympic berth. Bernard also won her
first national title by knocking off Downing in the final of the 2008
U.S. Nationals, but was a surprise Olympian because the 28-year-old
Downing is a past world championships bronze medalist and three-time
national champion. She has one year of eligibility remaining at the
University of Regina in Canada, where she's won three national college
titles. Bernard also won junior world titles in 2003 and 2005, and
placed third in 2006.
