can't wait for the camp at compound :0

He will 1 year ago

...go 141 next year if he is smart. He looks huge he has to cut alot. Why cut like crazy just to get beat by Stieber again ur senior year when u can move up to 141 and win the class pretty easily? Doesnt make sense for JO to go 133. Russell and alot of top 141 are gone. JO jus needs to hope Hunter S. doesnt hit the gym and get some muscle this off season and knocks him off the mantle at 141 lol

Thomas 1 year ago

@Justsayn hes gonna be at 133 this isnt high school where kids are still growing

Bob 1 year ago

Jordan Oliver shouldn't have lost this match, he was the more talented wrestler. But he got beat, simple as that. He got beat because he wasn't being busy enough through out the match

Just sayn 1 year ago

Throw the red challenge flag for the booth review!!!! Anyway Oliver will be up at 141 for his last year. Maybe the bother takes him out also?

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

It's amazing what crybaby whiners JO fans are & PA fans in general. All you clowns, admit WHAT IS OBVIOUS: Oliver LOST, GOT BEAT, FAILED IN HIS QUEST TO REPEAT, DID NOT WIN, HAS BEEN REPLACED AS THE #1 KID AT 133 LB. , WAS OUT WRESTLED, DID NOT GET HIS HAND RAISED.

On this day, the better wrestler won. Steiber dictated the match and WON. Did i say Steiber WON????
-
Steiber proved he was the best at this weight - beating the #2, #3, #4 kids. He did not have a cake walk to the finals (like Oliver). Here's what's really hard for you PA honks to accept - Stebier is the better wrestler. Who's to say next time Steiber doesn't beat him worse?
Reality really does SUCK PA Fan. Stebier won, oliver lost. Steiber won, oliver lost. Steiber won...well you know..

Nah 1 year ago

I have seen that called either way. I have also seen plenty of times when the guy seemingly in control in that position (JO) raises his knees to try and come up to the hips only to get rolled over and lose position. If he attempts to work up he has to let go of the ankle n thats when things change.

So BOTH refs were out of position and BOTH refs were wrong? Cmon guys. All hail the NCAA Champ Logan Stieber

re:retarded red from ohio 1 year ago

Oliver had control of both legs and had stieber on his butt. That's two points u dummy. The refs in the match we're in bad angles and couldn't see it.

Ref from Ohio 1 year ago

Oliver's final shot ended in a stalemate, not a takedown. Neither wrestler could advance his position, so neither wrestler was in control. To be a takedown

Stieberfever 1 year ago

Still not a take down!

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

Still wasn't a take down :)

That was 2!!! 1 year ago

If you were to show this to 100 refs with the sound turned down and just the last 10 seconds. I don't know of someone could argue that it wasn't a takedown. Guy on his butt with both legs wrapped for like 2-3 seconds. People keep arguing about this guy and that guy and blown calls earlier.
If you just look at the last 10 seconds without being emotional, it's a takedown. It's as bad of a call as when Hendricks got a takedown against Churella while Churella was facing him on 1 knee a few years back. Sometimes the refs get caught up in the big dance and they miss stuff. The ref was in a position to make the call and just refused to make it. I'm not a huge fan of either kid, I'm just telling you like it is.

Stiber fans aren't complaining u STUPID AZZ! Why complain? Stiber=scoreboard.

No way was it 2. Not even close. Ref made the right call which was confirmed by the 2nd ref. Steiber wrestled the better match.

Reality real does suck for PA / Oliver Fans? Stiber wins! Steiber wins! Steiber wns!
The only thing dumass idiots like yourself can do is cry about the outcome. Get your tissue...it wasn't 2....WAAAAAAAAA.

those refs were sent back to p 1 year ago

that was 2.. u dumass stieber fans wouldnt be complaining it wasnt 2 if the right call was made.he was clearly taken down.fact you could tell in stiebers voice he knows he shouldnt have won

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

News flash. I just watched the Oliver vs. Steiber championship match....still no 2.
-
PA honks, let us know when it changes. Until then, we call Steiber the champ, #1, Top Dog, Scoreboard.
Mr. PA 2X champ. it wasn't 2. You can throw another St. Champ past your name and it still doesn't change the fact - NO 2.

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

I think many people continue to miss the point. Oliver put himself in a position needing a ref's call to win the match.
-
Superior defense from Steiber & made the adjustments necessary to beat Oliver OR Oliver wrestling tight, holding back on his offense? I'd say a combination of both. In the first match, Oliver dominated - dictated the pace & rode tough from top position. Neither of these things happened in the championship match.

Vote is split 50/50 on last takedown. Depends on your view point. However, Steiber dictated the match, made adjustments and put himself in a position for the W. From a strategy standpoint, there's no dispute - Steiber wrestled the better match. Oliver was reacting far more to what Steiber did vs. setting the tone of the match.
.
Steiber won. Hand raised. This is very clear.

As a wrestling official, some of these calls in this tournament were quite terrible. The takedown call in the first was too quick. The ref said "hand on the mat", well then why didn't he award the same thing later in the match for the same exact position in the 2nd period?. I saw both hands on the mat for the same amount of time as the first period. As far as the scramble at the end of the match, I have seen that position many times and Oliver did not improve from having nothing above the knees. All he had to do was put an arm around steiber's waist and I would have awarded two. Good job in asking the assistant what he saw before giving final decision. Overall bad job by this ref in this final though.

PA Power 1 year ago

Yep I never wrestled in my life if you consider winning 2 PIAA championships "Not wrestling".... I did applaud both guys, but anyone who's wrestled and is a fan of wrestling knows that was two....I agree with you 2points.....I've seen takedowns awarded with much less.....Hips higher than stiebers, both legs covered, stieber's A$$ on the mat....Tied him up...so is that what you will call it when i shoot a single cut to other leg on you and you just drape yourself over my shoulders....Im done with this subject...thats just a downright JOKE....

Cooper 1 year ago

Hey Knucklehead - how is that you're making such a bold prediction by saying that Stieber will not win 4?? Is it the fact that it's only been done twice in the history of NCAA Div. I wrestling? Dake has not done it yet - but I wouldn't even bet right now that he will do it next year.

2points 1 year ago

sorry folks, but that was a takedown. it's not even debatable! feel bad for Oliver. all weekend long that same position was scored a takedown. those who think otherwise are bullshi**ing themselves.

Mr. Rogers 1 year ago

Hello, Matt!
Can you say "middle of the mat is not the edge of the mat? Sure you can!" Can you say "no control,no take down? Sure you can!"

Awesome Kid! 1 year ago

Congratulations Steiber! You sure did earn it one match at a time. Can't wait to see what your going to do next season. Because you seem like your still a HS kid.

maybe 1 year ago

the last take down might have been two but the Frist takedown was not two one bad call for another

BUCKEYEPRIDE 1 year ago

oliver did nothing the entire match..and when he got in deep at the end he just layed there and didnt try to improve his position at all...anybody who knows wrestling knows that you never leave it in the hands of the official...he rode stieber for over 3 minutes in there first match and logan instantly popped up both times he was on the bottom...stieber learned from his mistakes and got better...give credit where credit is due people...stieber is the champ whether you guys like it or not

A couple of things are very obvious & should be concerning for any wrestling fan. Wrestling power base is firmly shifting East. I read only 3 AA acutally from the State of Oklahoma. Of those, only Perry's on OK St. The demise of the Big 12, er Big 4 is not good for wrestling. SEC - no college wrestling. Very little out West. Nebraska now in B10. Where is OK St. to go? Wyoming, Arizona St. Cal Poly, Stanford, Iowa St.?
-

Clearly Ok. St. was overrated and things don't look good longterm. I take no pleasure in this. While a B10 fan, a weak southwest & west is not good longterm for our sport. I don't know the answer but the reality of what's going on in college wrestling should be concerning to all wrestling fans.

BTW - not 2. Steiber wins. :)

Only way 1 year ago

To go back in time is to review the tape at dual angles and then you will get the truth. NFL has replays for a reason. Our sport deserves the best too no matter the inconvenience. At least for Finals matches if at all. These matches are sometimes that close like photo finishes. Time to get with the times like other sports. Jmo

Matt 1 year ago

Hey boys. Had Oliver been on the edge of the mat with Steiber on his butt out of bounds it would been called two. Takedowns were given on the edge with much less control than Oliver had the entire tournament. Just sayin the refs have two different criteria for takedowns. Ones on the edge of the mat and ones in the middle. Don't believe me . . go back and watch.

Knucklehead 1 year ago

I'll make a bold prediction and say Stieber won't win four. Won't win next year.

Knucklehead 1 year ago

Just ran across something John Smith said at the start of the year about Oliver. He said winning championships doesn't get easier, it gets tougher.
