Grand Valley and Lake Eries varsity teams will compete against each other in the GLIAC next year but not in the sport of wrestling. GVs wrestling team is a club team, not sponsored by the athletic department. The GLIAC does not sponsor a conference tournament for wrestling b/c only a few schools have wrestling but two have been added in the last two years (Tiffin and Lake Erie). As for the NCWA, many teams are from DII schools that previously had varsity teams but now compete as a club team which is the case with Grand Valley. There are schools from other divisions that have the same situation, University of Central Florida (DI) and Amherst College (DIII) for instance. Other schools like Southern Virginia (NAIA) and Marion Military (NJCAA) have varsity teams but compete in the NCWAs national tournament rather than the other division. The University of Michigan and Ohio University sponsor both a DI varsity team and a club team that are two separate programs. The club teams compete in the NCWA.Hope this helps.
