1 escape. shouldn't even be a question

Rock Strongo 1 year ago

Iowa fans want 2? Wow, how did that state ever garner NCAA championships when fans don't have a clue about the scoring system?

Mike C 1 year ago

I think Darius and I are the only two who know the rules.

locked hands 1 year ago

There is locking hands at 0:20.

Excuse my last comment...I'm ed

I think everyone thinks he was locking hands near the beginning of the video and so did I, but I looked at it again and I just realized that St. John is not locking hands, he's grabbing his own ankle.

Mike C 1 year ago

1 escape and 1 for fleeing the mat. I stand by my first call.

Mike C 1 year ago

anonymous are you talking when he drops to the ankle and his hands are wrapped around the ankle pulling him in bounds yet not locked. once again hands have to locked around two legs while in control beyond reaction time. you can not call locked hands on one leg.

Good point, JFRAZ. I was wrong on my assessment of the video. In that case, one on the escape, one on the locked hands on no takedown, back to the center in neutral.

Adam 1 year ago

It doesn't matter cuz St. John cut him right afterwards and took him down later for the victory.

NickRugg 1 year ago

1 neutral ONLY... no control beyond that point...

Darius Levan 1 year ago

definitely a 1. and you can't lock hands on a single. vvv

justawrestlingfan 1 year ago

Definitely 1 escape, no takedown. By the way, what was the original call?

Husker Man 1 year ago

Good thing, that it really did not affect the final outcome...St Johns Tank won that match.

The better you make the Call was Inhen vs Steinhaus...Inhen scored the takedown 1st. Congrats Steinhaus for the follow through.

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

Mike C, look at :27 seconds and then tell me it that isnt locking hands

Husker Man 1 year ago

FLO - Yoi should have done you make the BIG Call on the
Steinhaus vs Inhen match....Inhen scored that takedownin OT
Congrats to Steinhaus though

Husker Man 1 year ago

Yes, the Ref blew this call....I remember saying that when I saw it live...
1 pt Escape and thai is it...no control on takedown
Love Welchs flexibility....saves him all the time (another demension for him)

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

1-0 definite escape ..no td.... same result though as he cut him moments later.

njguy 1 year ago

thats one escape for welch and thats all , no two at the end for st. john , never had complete control

Joe 1 year ago

escape on the boundary at the end. the 1st time he got out there was no reaction as welch went right into a shot creating a scramble to the other boundary.

Cole 1 year ago

1 escape, no takedown.

DrakeHS 1 year ago

St John shouldn't be a NCAA 2 seed b/c of this blown call....it's a 1 escape for Welch, nearly a 2 takedown and in fact, I'd call it 2, but there's also a locking hands on St john, so it's tied.

bigwrestling 1 year ago

1 escape for sure. no takedown on the edge.

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

1 escape, no 2

david rosen 1 year ago

bogus. an escape, no doubt.

Wrestling fan 1 year ago

Def 1 escape, no takedown. Common Ref.

Hey Nick M 1 year ago

you don't know what your talking about

Nick M 1 year ago

escape but no two for td

mattman 1 year ago

1 escape 2 takedown

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

If there was no escape, then at 21 seconds he locked his hands. either way it shouldve been 1 point.
