Joey Davis from CA is definitely a best hs wrestler nominee

Jordan Z 10 months ago

Everybody knows that it should of been between Ohio and Pen. But there are good wrestlers everywhere, so you can't say that Cali isn't a good wrestling state.

Matt McDonnough 10 months ago

Actually Coach, I thought the biggest upset was when Jesse Delgado beat me.

Matt McDonnough 10 months ago

Actually Coach I thought the biggest upset was when Jesse Delgado beat me this year.

Tom Brands 10 months ago

That's Hogwash! The biggest upset ever was when Ohio State beat us in a dual meat this year!!!

Kellen Russell 10 months ago

That time Hunter Steiber beat me was a pretty big upset. I'm just saying...

Obviously you can't read 10 months ago

If you could read, nit wit pa, you would see below that PA did NOT have the most champs. There were 2, and that's being nice and not counting Ed Ruth as a Blair-ite from NJ. Ohio had Taylor and Stieber. Jersey had Molinaro and Russell.
But if you want to count "real" champions, let's talk World Champions. In the past 20 years, Iowa high school grads have won the most global titles. Iowa has won 4, Lousiana 3, New Jersey 3, and Penn 2. Those are the only states with more than 1.
Of course if you want to talk college wrestling, Iowa has produced 9 world championships, PA has 3, and Indiana and Oklahoma have 2 since 1993. Basically, Iowa schools are USA Wrestling.

nit wit pa 10 months ago

ok, i was exaggerating when i said the last 5 years.. but I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THIS PAST YEAR (2011-2012), pa had the most:
qualifiers
placers
champs
and that is a fact. again...this past year of 2011-12

Richard Immel 10 months ago

Everyone had a chance to voice their opinion by voting guys. Just enjoy the show for what it is. There is no secret agenda to bash iowa or pennsylvania. Just remember to vote next year if you want to see different results. That is all

Sick duck

@ nit wit PA 10 months ago

If you want to keep bringing up how PA out-performs everyone at the NCAAs, at least get your facts straight instead of assuming. Yes, PA has the most qualifiers... Yes, PA has the most All-Americans... But go and research the last few years and see which state has the most CHAMPS and Finalists. Champs as in the BEST wrestler in the Nation. Ok, I'll save you the time... it's NEW JERSEY. Don't believe me than look it up. It's not hard to find. I believe PA is the best wrestling state there is, but don't brag about having the most champs the last five years when you don't.

Gable Inspired 10 months ago

No McDonough as a candidate for Best wrestler? I'd say Cory Clark from SE Polk Iowa would be one of the top wrestlers and wasn't a candidate either. 4 time state Champ in THE wrestling state and a double National Champ this year. I also read a great comment about St.John making the finals on one leg, IMPRESSIVE and giving Dake all we wanted and even made him whine on the mic. Everyone Hates a Hawkeye. ITS OKAY, WE HATE YOU TOO. Brand's Boys will continue with success year in year out. Let these others have their little glory. Where did most of their coaches come from? THE WRESTLING STATE OF????????? IOWA

Anonymous Coward 10 months ago

How as NY not a contender for best state??????

@ "hey, 'nah'" 10 months ago

I'm not talking about kids from pa colleges u dumby... We're talking about what state the kids were from (like where they went to high school u nit wit) ... An in the last five years... The birth state with the most qualifiers, placers, and champions. Again, we're not talking about colleges in pa, we're talking about college kids from pa

So where is the hottest mom award???

Cali is a joke 10 months ago

I watched California wrestle this weekend in Michigan at the Grand River rumble. Lets just say this, just because they only crown one state champ per weight in one division does not mean they are the best wrestling state.

PA ALL DAY 10 months ago

One reason PA kids were not at flo was because it was the same weekend as NHSCA nationals. A llot of very good PA kids went down and they won the freshman, sophmore, and junior team titles.

Kevin Kutler 10 months ago

Best high school match last season no doubt was Blair vs St Eds. Came down to Mark Grey vs Edgar Bright with Grey winning a controversial decision in triple OT

Hey, "nah" 10 months ago

PA didn't have more NCAA champs than Ohio or New Jersey. They all had 2.
They have more D1 wrestling programs than CA - or NY, NJ, OH, IL ..... I could go on and on, so of course they will have more All Americans. I'm tired of that being the argument people use to say that PA is better. If all the CA schools hadn't dropped wrestling in the past 25 years, they would have a lot more.

ahaha 10 months ago

here goes this same old argument about which state is the hardest. bottom line is the cali wrestlers put it on the line while flying across the country right in the backyard of supposedly the hardest state pa. the best part is that a lot of pa studs didn't even show up to nationals, knowing that cali was coming out. so the joke is on you fools thinking that California is not the best state. now California is starting to get more organized about sending the best kids out to top tournaments(S32 , ironman , flonationals etc.) this upcoming super 32s you'll see a large cali contingent.

West Coaster 10 months ago

Hey guys, this may sound like a stretch but in my humble opinion Hunter Steibers win over Kellen Russell was maybe worth mentioning. I know crazy right? I mean true freshman beat national champions on a regular basis so thats probably why you guys didn't even nominate him...

Anonymous Coward 10 months ago

Nice... where'd you guys come up with the idea for the Floby's?

CAwrestler 10 months ago

not to rain on stiebers parade, but Novachkov sticking mangrum in quadruple overtime was the best match of the year.
