When, if ever, will freestyle require or at least allow headgear (especially at the international level)? Does it allow headgear now, even as folks simply opt out of it? And on a different front, is it harder to hear with cauliflower ear?

is spot on, some ladies defiantly like it and think it's bada$$ while others (which seem like the less majority) think it's ugly. also the good thing is that it brings attention from ladies and thats good most of the time...

Friend of mine's dad wrestled on the D1 level and internationally in the 60's and has none. Told me I only have it because "you don't know how to duck that $h!t." When you think about it he is so right.

I'm an old man and do not have it after many years on the mat, through college. Wore my Cliff Keens religiously as I was convinced that if I "got it" that I would get "dumbo ears" (you made no mention of these, and they are the WORST).
For veteran guys the ears mean nothing - so why do i care what a guy looks like?
As far as I am concerned I was only thinking of getting a woman and I already was a bandy legged, pie faced, short mick wth red hair...no brainer, wear the headgear. Think about poor old Dumbo and how much he suffered having to work for the circus....
Frankly I enjoy the site, but you fellers are dumber than you look, so you should stay off the video and don't wear your singlets unless your fighting on the mat, it is unbecoming (trying to be PC here)....
