Mizzou has the most interesting 1st round matchups. They are unseeded at 149, 157, and 174. Houdashelt takes on Andrew Alton, Bradley gets Green, and Todd Porter faces Matt Brown. Plus #1 Waters gets David Thorn. They have the potential to do some damage in the team race. |

Anyone know the reason for only seeding out to the top 12 spots? Why not go to 16? Or even further? I realize too much controversy sets in at some point, but 16 seems reasonable. It might help to mitigate the possibility of some awkward first round match-ups. |

It sucks that Flemming and Green are on the same side of the bracket. I could see both of them upsetting some high seeds. Flemming with his top game and green with his explosion. |

The Alton brothers for Penn State are mercurial and unpredictable, unlike the rest of their lineup. Either one or both could tear through the bracket to the finals or flame out in the early rounds. They are volatile but extremely talented; capable of beating just about anyone but also vulnerable to taking an early lead and then giving it up late in the match. Dylan rose to the occasion last year. Their performances might make the difference in terms of whether PSU finishes on top or cedes the trophy to OKST. |

I can't believe Greff Fondacerro commented on this and didn't mention the fact that Hunter got the #1 seed over Maple. |

As much of an Iowa hater that I am, never count them out. They are always ready to roll for nationals. |

Wrong. If you take the placement points for each seed, it comes down to a 2 team race. Penn State and Oklahoma State. Iowa is a distant third and Minnesota is way off in fourth - based solely on expected finishes. |

Storley, not Starlet :) |

Storley gets screwed by wrestling sick and Hamlin is rewarded by sitting out with injury. How is that right? |

If you go solely by seedings, it appears, as expected, to be a tight four team race. PSU, OKS, MINN and IOWA each have 8 seeded wrestlers and, with the exception of IOWA, 2 unseeded wrestlers (which has 1). Hypothetically, if everyone were to finish where they are seeded, each of the four teams would finish with 8 All Americans (top 8). If you add up the seedings and discount the two unseeded weights for each team, that leaves you with the following numbers (not scores): PSU 42; OKS 43; IOWA 45 and MINN 53. In this case, it is preferable to have low numbers because higher seeds equal lesser numbers. Long story short: it should be a pretty exciting team race. Upsets and bonus points should be the key to deciding things even if most seedings hold to form. Enjoy March Matt-ness! |

Iowa in big trouble! maybe 4th or 5th this year. Penn State will need the breaks they have grown accustomed to and should probably repeat |

DSJ and Ramos are the only finalists Iowa could hope to have
