Vary Nice Coach

Kyle Dake is a better athlete...he will surely beat Taylor. Going up in weight will only make him more fierce because it will minimize the effects of fatigue on the day of a match.

Jamie Sperrazza 7 months ago

It's 50/50. Dake might beat Taylor next month and then Taylor could beat him at the Scuffle. Sure Dake pinned Taylor at the Trials but Taylor could have done the same thing to him on a different day. I guess the most important victory will be at the NCAAs. Dake is not small for 165. He probably will not have to jump on the bike like he would have had to at 157 to cut water weight the day of match or tourney because of the choice he made to go up. Now he can remain hydrated and not have to down liquids after weigh ins. Taylor and Dake are beasts. I don't care who wins. Just pumped for the opportunity to see a classic match or matches.

Coach K, Yes, Dake pinned Taylor at the Olympic trials. There's no doubt Dake is far superior in freestyle, but how about folkstyle? That's the question...and it will be answered soon!

Coach K 7 months ago

Dake already pinned Taylor at the Olympic Trials did he not?

Anonymous Coward 7 months ago

I'd say it comes down to cardio. If Dake is in shape, he wins. Otherwise Taylor will destroy him

Anonymous Coward 8 months ago

IMO, anyone saying Dake is too small is wrong. Dake may give up a few lbs but it doesn't matter, he will control Taylor in all 3 positions. Dake is way too strong for Taylor - showed this at the Olympic Trials and he'll show it again.

I can't wait for the match!

Keystone State 8 months ago

i would take dake anytime against taylor, but i'm hesitant to take him here. he certified at 57. he's just too small for 65. but im picking him and im rooting for him

TE 8 months ago

Gonna be the best match ever!!!!

Anonymous Coward 8 months ago

Some are saying Dake is stronger than Taylor....I don't see that. Remember, Dake is the one bumping up a weight. Taylor has a lot of leverage and size on Dake, which could be an advantage. However, Dake is better technically. Should be a close match

dake's going to pin taylor.

Anonymous Coward 8 months ago

i'm from Ohio and will root for Taylor. With this said, it wouldn't surprise me if Dake AGAIN puts a SMACKDOWN on Taylor. Olympic trials - no contest. Dake pounded Taylor. I certainly will agree w/the time factor between matches and tough matches Taylor had prior to Dake.

Technique - both have. Both strong in all positions. The difference IMO - strength. Dake is just like Taylor but stronger. in the end, Dake pushes Taylor around and wins easily. 1 or 2 TD, escape & Dake rides Taylor like a show pony. 4-0 or 6-0.
Can't wait for the match.

Dake's no-fear attitude is exactly what needs to be infused into American wrestling, to bring home an Olympic team gold. Both KD & DT are class acts, in that they have literally trained their entire lives for the Olympic dream, have already reached some of the highest possible goals of college wrestling, and yet they leave out the bad mouthing and trash talking in favor of their own action on the mats. Gives me great hope for the future of American wrestling.

No. Someone wrote that Dake would beat Taylor, Ruth, and Wright all at the same time! How dare that person write something like that!? Actually, I agree!

Anonymous Coward 8 months ago

Actually wait I was wrong DV FOR CHAMP takes home the cake for biggest

Anonymous Coward 8 months ago

@comment under me....what about there only meeting so far you idiot...I like Taylor more than dake but that's just an ignorant statement from whats most likely an ignorant person

David Taylor Will Whip Dake 8 months ago

DT will whip Dake here
DT will whip Dake there
DT will whip Dake anywhere!

Crazy 8 months ago

Wow did someone really write dake would beat Taylor,Ruth, wright that's crazy the best wrestler in the NCAA is Ed Ruth. I feel dake is to strong for Taylor

cweb 8 months ago

Went to Graham in the early 80s. Huge Taylor fan, but also a realist. Dake is the hands down best wrestler. Hope I am wrong!

HL 8 months ago

If I were a betting man, I'd say Taylor wins this first match, but Dake wins at the NCAAs. The reason is that Dake's early season conditioning hasn't always been so steller, but Taylor will be peaking and ready to go. Dake is a strategic and technical wrestler (I think better than Taylor), not a knock-em-around and wear-em-out guy like Taylor. It will probably be like the Caldwell Metcalf match, remember? Metcalf, being a conditioning machine and always ready to go, teched Caldwell at the All Star Classic. Caldwell was technically superior to Metcalf, just couldn't get into the shape necessary to let that technical advantage come to fruition until the end of the season.

Dake would beat Taylor, Ruth, and Wright. Including wrestling all three at the same time. Dake would stick.Taylor (again), tech Wright, and major Ruth.

Anonymous Coward 8 months ago

Max M. Just sayn, you can't count this kid out, he doesn't run from anyone! Love JB, but, Dake would frustrate JB's offense. Wish dake could make 66k

Max M 8 months ago

I bet Taylor will go 74. Dake is the toughest wrestler in a very long time. I wouldn't be supposed if he beats Burroughs soonish! Just Sayn
that is a bold statement my friend. you realize jordan burroughs just won a world and an olympic gold medal. Just Sayin.

Dake Taylor 8 months ago

Didn't Dake pin Taylor at the Trials this summer?

Matthew Diano 8 months ago

Howe is RSing this year and likely will be at 74 in 2014.

I think Howe is redshirting. I doubt Dake and Taylor would be going 165 if Howe were around. Although Dake had a close match with Howe in freestyle. However, Howe destroyed Taylor.

DV FOR CHAMP 8 months ago

look up dakota valdez. he could probably beat both of these guys hands down.

Howe 8 months ago

Is Howe also going 165 this year?

Anonymous Coward 8 months ago

Wow! Dake's bumping up to wrestle Taylor. Very bold move! I think Dake can win it, but Taylor's VERY good. Best match up ever!
