Best case that I've heard for a team format. Being in the Southeast part of the country, and having watched every SEC team and several ACC teams drop their programs over the past thirty years, I think his point about making our sport more marketable to colleges is really critical at this point in time. It's time to bring on national duels.

We need the national duals because it shows the best OVERALL team.
1) At the NCAAs, not all teams have the same amount of athletes. Some teams may have 10 while others have 9,8,7 or less. Duals are 10 versus 10.
2)The difference in the talent depth from one conference to another or from one weight class to another influences the NCAAs. This factor has no bearing in a dual structure.
3) nothing beats head-to-head! It erases all questions. Why should Iowa beat penn state because some kid from American beat the penn state kid?
Why should oklahoma beat Michigan because some kid from Stanford changed the bracket with a head-to-head win back in November??
Why should the one kid from Franklin & Marshall to qualify for the NCAAs have an affect over who is the top team in the country in a race between the nations best team like Iowa, Oklahoma, Michigan, Oklahoma state, penn state, Cornell, ect.??
As clearly stated from the examples above, a dual meet format produces an undisputed champion in an event of 10 on 10. This is what a college wrestling is. Not 10 on 7, or 9 on 8.

Adam, make so many valid points for the National Duals. I agree we need to make some changes if we want our sport to survive.
Perhaps we could have the National Duals the week following the NCAA Championships. Would give us a big venue in all Divisions to promote the NCAA National Dual Championships. It would also set the stage for the top 8 or 16 teams to do battle as a TEAM head to head. Creating the best match ups like Adam mentioned.

Wise beyond his years

Adam is one of the most knowledable guys in the wrestling community that I have met over the last two decades. He actually went to Stanford initially, and than transferred to Illinois after his redshirt freshman year.

I don't know anything about Tirapelle other than his wrestling accomplishments, but he seems to know a lot about wrestling outside of competing and teaching moves. Like all of his intervies. He makes good points.
