Unfortunately, he's punishing good parents because of a small group of idiots. If I'm driving an hour to a wrestling practice, you're not kicking me out of the room. End of story. My kids didn't cut, and I didn't yell at them. They've never won a state title, either. He seems to be painting all parents with a broad brush because of his "psycho dad". If he can't handle the bad parents effectively, that's a chink in his armor.

Izzy Martinez sees a big problem at the youth level in the sport of wrestling and it is parents. Not necessarily most of them, but there are enough parents out there that are hurting the sport of wrestling and not making it fun for their children
You are right about the history but Martinez wont the state duals and also veat harvey at tge novice level at the state tournament Both are great clubs with alot if tough wrestlers we will see how this year plays out

I agree with Izzy, including removing the parents from the room... However that only solves the problem during practice. The psycho parents will still be crazy and overbearing at home. Parents keeping their 9 & 10 yr olds home from school on the days of weigh-ins so they won't be tempted to eat school lunch and they can sit at home a steam shower or sauna. A parent telling me how they had their 8yr old sleep in sweats with a space heater next to the bed. These aren't things I've heard through a 3rd party. These are things I have either personally witnessed, or heard directly from the parents themselves. If it weren't for prison, I'd take care of these lunatics myself. Sometimes I think the coaches DO care more about the kids them some of these parents. The ones who do it the right way are few and far between. Most aren't as extreme as the examples I listed, but enough are that it makes me sick. I've tried to get through to some of them, but most are too thick headed and just tell stories of parents even crazier then they are.
I have been saying this for 20 years.......when I coached youth wrestling I shrunk the season down to 6 weeks our club grew from 13 to 78 in 3 years and we were out wrestling kids that wrestled 7 months of the year.We had staying power where other clubs were burning the kids out our varsity team had a full line up and two and three wrestlers deep. youth clubs kill high school programs way to much.
I used to sit and watch my kid's club practice, but what came of it on the ride home was me picking apart everything he did wrong. He hated it, and I don't think it made him any better. Then one day I brought my bike with me and rode fifteen miles on a nearby trail while his practice was going on. I showed up for the live part at the end, but that was it. After doing this a couple of weeks, I started noticing a big change of attitude in my son about practice. On the ride home, we would talk about how it went, and I would encourage him. Because I hadn't seen all his mistakes, I had nothing to critique. Encouragement was all I had to offer. I think this will work out much better in the long run.But let's not let coaches off the hook entirely. A lot of coaches I know want kids to cut weight, and they way they go about it is to take the idea to daddy. "Can you get him down to X weight by Saturday?" Can't tell you how many times I've heard that one.
I like IZZY,S STYLE... straight up!!!!!something ta thinck about moms, dads, and coaches.....
