An in depth video of 55kg Olympian Sam Hazewinkel's journey to make the Olympic team. Hazewinkel was a 4x All-American at Oklahoma, but could never quite get over the hump and win a national championship. After college Hazewinkel began wrestling internationally in Greco-Roman, but like college Hazewinkel was never able to get over the hump of being on an Olympic or world team. In 2009 Hazewinkel made the switch over to freestyle and finally after always being number two, Hazewinkel defeated Nick Simmons to become the United States representative at 55kg.

weakest member of the us team, i don't think he gets out of the early rounds at the olympics.

No disrespect towards Hazelwinkel. This will be the first year in as many as I can remember that the United States will not medal in this weight class at the olympics. Good job on making the team though.
