The stinky nugget guy is stupid you know he really cares. he said he had a rocky moment so he had to do it.

So, everyone understands that Rulon is becoming money hungry. He knew after he got off the "Biggest Loser" he could keep making money. It sucks knowing how much people use the sport for money after they lose the love of it.

-My thoughts-

23 minutes of lies. Unbelievable.

all of you are idiots

I'm the original Cooper. After reading these comments, I've changed my mind about Rulon. He's a lazy, lying, fat bozo.

probably true ahaha 1 year ago

Because his competition laid a hamburger trail from his locker to the back of the arena, where there were 55 more hamburgers with extra cheese waiting for them. He furiously mauled all the burgers, but missed weigh-ins.

Rulon- Stop lying about your weight and life and start living a clean, honest life. You were not within 5 pounds and you know it. Man up. You're an American hero and need to start acting like it.

Judge Yourself 1 year ago

what have any of you who posted on here done? did he make personal mistake and let his weight get out of control, obviously, but to act as though he is a piece of for not making the weight is just ridiculos, he has nothing to prove to anyone but himself. take a look in the mirror before you talk about someone whose trying to get back on track.

Cooper 1 year ago

I've posted numerous times over the years - but I did not post the message below under the name "Cooper". I guess anyone can copy any name and use it - even if unintentional. I don't agree with those comments. The fact that Gardner did what he did to get to the point of almost making weigh is a testament to his drive and what got him those Olympic medals in 2000 and 2004. Would have liked to see him compete to see how he would have done. Great story and an inspiration.

nothing but respect 1 year ago

I cant believe anyone can talk with such a lack of respect for this man. By becoming healthy again, he has accomplished more than any wrestler ever has. A gold medal is nothing compared to what he has done in the last 2 years.

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

how many people that comment on here have an olympic gold medal? ok shut up, i think quiting and giving in are 2 different things. Rulon gave in to his age. in wrestling years he is getting to be an old man.

There's never an excuse for not making weight, this isn't Wednesday night match in season, this is the World Trials and you have plenty of time to prepare.

He was mentally broke, couldn't finish the battle before the war.

Let's be honest with ourselves and with Rulon...
Is Rulon the most decorated greco athlete in US history? YES
Did Rulon accomplish the almost impossible feat of beating Alexander "The Experiment" Karelin? YES
Has Rulon demonstrated incredible mental toughness on and off the mat in the past? YES
Did Rulon let himself become morbidly obese by living a totally undisciplined life? YES
Did Rulon QUIT the TV show "Biggest Loser" before accomplishing his stated goal of losing the most weight? YES
Did Rulon QUIT on his stated personal goal of making the 2012 Olympic team by not even stepping on the scale? YES!

Karelin slipped a grip bc rulons a fat farm boy not bc rulon did anything special

he went from 475-270. all you s that don't have a gold medal. He won gold after being stranded in a ice cave after a ski accident. He is a man and has the right to do what he wants. nothing to prove. He knocked off an undefeated freak. retire while on top

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

Nobody here has the right to call Rulon a coward, quitter or failure. He had nothing to prove by coming to the trials he already won an olympic gold, and at his age cutting weight is a completely different animal.

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

Failure. He is now a side show. Kind of sad.

If he hadn't got up to almost 500, he wouldn't have to lose it all. It was his lifestyle choices that caused him to weigh so much. It was also his decision to go out in terrible weather. He is responsible for his life.
If he would have been under 300 earlier this year, he would have made weight with no problem. He's our best Greco wrestler ever, so I wish he would have done what it took to make the U.S. team. If he just wanted to lose weight, he shouldn't have wasted everyone's time and just worked out and dieted on his own.

josh 1 year ago

you guys are crazy! The man is a role model, lost in a snow storm faced frost bite and amputation. He got up close to 500lbs and got down to 270lbs how dare you mock his efforts

Will Moor 1 year ago

He quit because he is a quitter...he quit because he is a shell of the man that beat the great Russian in the olympic finals.
no one has the right to call an olympic gold medalist a quitter. one of the finest wrestlers in the history of the united states (two olympic medals) deserves the respect of anyone involved with the sport, and using language like that is plain disrespectful.

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

Did I just hear that right? Did the guy who gave up on making weight at the Olympic Trials with only 5 pounds to go (if you believe that) just say that he hopes he can help to bring back the mystique of intensity and hard work to the USA Greco team?? Seriously?? Is this a joke? Did he really say that his body was telling him to slow down? Isn't the definition of mental toughness and hard work the ability to ignore your body when it tells you to slow down? Seriously!?

quittersneverwin 1 year ago

I can tell you why he quit, and it won't take 22 minutes to read. He quit because he is a quitter...he quit because he is a shell of the man that beat the great Russian in the olympic finals. He quit the biggest loser, he didn't show up for the finale, and he didn't put the work into getting down to weight for this tournament. Did he not think he had what it takes to be competitive...could he just not stop eating... Only he knows, but what we all know is that the glorious story of Rulon has a terrible final chapter. 5-6 pounds over? No way...more like 30.
