anonymous are you talking when he drops to the ankle and his hands are wrapped around the ankle pulling him in bounds yet not locked. once again hands have to locked around two legs while in control beyond reaction time. you can not call locked hands on one leg.

It was Welch who was trying to get an escape at the start of the clip, NOT St. John! St. John's back being to Welch has nothing to do with the escape call at all!

anonymous it can not be locked hands around 1 leg. the only way that rule applies if it's around both legs. you clearly don't know the rule.

Maybe St John yelled "Force Field" to the referee meaning there was an invisible force still controlling Welch's destiny not unlike The Force in Star Wars.....and the ref bought it; therefore, no escape (in a metaphysical way).
