The Flo boys give a breakdown of the 74kg bracket which was released earlier today. The American Jordan Burroughs is the returning world champion and favorite to repeat at this point. He could potentially see Russian 2x world champion Denis Tsargush in the semifinals which could possibly set up a rematch of last year's world finals between Burroughs and Sadegh Goudarzi of Iran in the Olympic finals. There are, however, a number of other studs in this weight class who could make a push. Check out the previews by Willie the Saylor and Craig the Guru posted on Flo.

Zeb ur nuts bottom half is way tougher than the bottom. Tigiev hasn't done anything since Beijing and same goes for Terziev. Bottom has Tsargush Aliyev Burroughs Gentry Moreno and the Georgian. It's not even close. Goudarzi will probably beat Shapiyev in the semis and lose to Tsargush/Burroughs in the finals. |

I can't wait for freestyle tmw! I hope aren't getting too y here? Every World Championships or Olympic Games they have the top wrestling journalists make their picks. Every year/4 years the US journalists boldly choose US wrestlers to win a good majority of weight classes in Greco/Girlies/Freestyle......and they are usually dead wrong. Rooting for US wrestlers is great....but some journalists brazenly stating 5-7 US wrestlers are going to sweep their weight classes against former World/Olympic medalists is crazy. Journalists printing these bold statements might put additional pressure on already stressed out athletes. Like it or not....those Eastern European/Iranian wrestlers come out for blood. Being overly y might not be the way to go......did we not learn anything from Ben Askren? I am excited to watch Burroughs wrestle...but none of our wrestlers are a shoe in. |
