Jordan Burroughs had to go through Denis Tsargush, 2 time world champion from Russia, in the 2nd round of the tournament. Jordan Burroughs also defeated the returning world silver medalist to claim his title.

Adeline Gray breaks the streak wins the first medal for the USA
The United States had struggled during greco and women's freestyle at the world championships coming up with zero medals after 4 days of competition. Adeline Gray changed that and won a bronze medal at 67kg becoming the first American to win a medal at these world championships. Along the way she had to beat a multiple time world champion from Canada to stay aline.
