The Russians are sooo tough to score on. They do not appear as animated as USA guys when hand fighting or positioning, but when it is time to move they MOVE and do not stop.

what i think is funny is how flowrestling can make a highlight video for each weight class for russian nationals but would have trouble making a ten min highlight video of our qualifying meets that is nearly as impressive...

I agree with this guy. America doesnt pay to their wrestlers even half of what russia does. In russia, they were paying money or giving gifts to even young wrestlers for winning a simple tournament (it wasnt a huge amount, but still). In America, you only get a medal that costs $1.50. And i think this is all because Americans dont love wrestling as much as others. For example, if american football or baseball would be international, americans would be the best.

I think we wrestle on a wheel of history. Every so often we get back to different technique and styles and history repeats itself. And I see everyone coping the better schools/clubs/wrestlers on what they are doing and how they attack or defend stuff. Over the last 35 years not much is different other than the names. The only constant has been the philosophy of Iowa & OK St. on their attacks, both attack angles one attacks portions and the other controls entire angle(I know it doesn't apply to all who have went through their programs, but most). I'd like to talk to Kemp and guys like that who were doing what is the "NEW" now and hear what they have to say. How many years ago was Smith out funking everyone on the Planet, or Brands for that matter, hell as tough and in you face as he was, he could out scramble anyone....well ok....Russia is tops and has been for most of the history....And thats ok, they are great guys and it is always awesome when our boys push through to knock one of them off. If you don't believe this ask any one of our wrestlers in the past 50 years and ask what an american would earn for an Oly Gold and what a Russian gets for winning Worlds or an International Trny...all I have to say is they have kept Mercedes in business and their Champs are treated like royalty...I will say I cant wait until we treat out guys like Russia does, as a country...

I woulndt say that exactly. The russian style is pretty distinct and repetitive, if anyone has a more "creative" style its america. you rarely see to top level americans EX: national champ,s international competitors ect have the same style. or they usually follow a specific style brought to fame by they're college coaches. EX: smith, brands

watching russian wrestling like this just shows how much smarter, more creative, and better they are than americans
