We are trying to send the best team to the Worlds. Reece even agreed he needs to prove himself.
Also, he works out with Bunch everyday, so they probably know each other pretty well, hence their close matches. Don't compare Reece to Cael who won an olympic gold and just beat Herbert (who has prove himself internationally) soundly.

So Hump going through Bunch in 2 different tournaments is not doing your job??? I am not sure how I feel about Hump having to jump this last hoop but I did say in 08 when Lester buckled under the pressure that it seemed unfair that all his hard work came down to one bad match that left him of the olympic team when he was clearly our best chance (and not an 18 yo kid) to medal at 66kg due to his previous 2 world bronze medals so maybe this is the best way to decide it???

I think more and more guys are going to stick around and compete. For a couple cycles. There is so much more exposure now with the Internet. I think these wrestlers are smart enough to find ways to make an average post College salary while training and travelling. Worst case you live cheap travel the world and post pone the daily work grind!

With the rationale that Zeke is going with, then if Cael wins, he should have to "prove" himself internationally since he has not competed since 2004. Is he going to tell Cael this if he wins the trials?

russia has a similar system in the sense that winner at nationals (essentially their trials) doesn't always represent the country. The rationale is the ultimate goal is to win world medals. Some wrestlers, believe it or not, would be stylistically better suited to win a world medal than a world team spot for the USA. That being said, I think Reece has more than earned his keep.

where was bunch at in the duel vs. russia?

This is horse ! Reece beat him multiple times. Why have the trials at all then? Why have a 2 out of 3? Jones is an idiot. Wonder why the U.S. has completely fallen off the map since he has been there? Wonder why no one wants to live at the OTC, instead opting to be with better coaches? Reece is the future.

Zeke is pumped and he ought to be. This could turn out to be an unreal world team.
