You're spot on Houstonian. American U., like Columbia, has strong alumni support, especially from Alan Melzer (who's son Max, incidentally, was an AA for Harvard). Wrestling is a sport that doesn't take a huge capital investment, and it doesn't take 100 guys like football. And to your point, a big factor in Brown University reconsidering it's decision about cutting its wrestling program was RI Governor Lincoln Chafee being a former Brown University wrestling captain.

I invite the anonymous cowards who talk trash here to lace 'em up and try to stay with any of these guys. Columbia sent 2 to the NCAAs this year and will probably send half the team next year. The Lions are a very young team graduating only one senior. They are climbing in the EIWA and will return to the top 20 nationally soon. I love these couch potatoes who never even wrestled D1 (and never could) who like to talk trash. As for the coaching -- it's a great staff. Brendan Buckley relates very well to the guys, is a great leader and a class act. He was EIWA coach of the year in 2005 and is only and he was a beast at both Clemson and Fresno State where he was an AA wrestling with guys like Henson, Abas, and Yero Washington (who was an assistant at Columbia before moving to Iowa State); Carl Fronhofer, an NCAA finalist while at Pitt and a freestyle World Team member just two years ago; Roman Flezar, a two-time AA from Hofstra; and Hudson Taylor, a three-time AA who finished 3rd twice and fourth once for Maryland. I'm sure any of the 4 would be happy to have you in to share your "vast knowledge"! Oh, and the Columbia wrestling program is fully endowed -- both the Head Coach position and the Asst. Head Coach position have been endowed. Does that tell you anything about the level of wrestling alumni support? This is a program that isn't going anywhere .... except for up up up.

who watches video's on flo to talk bad about them, if your going to do that dont watch them at all. Appreciate or dont say anything, and jimmy pick the columbia wrestler closest to your weight and wrestle him, i bet it wouldnt be pretty haha...i saw some D1 schools but is columbia really D1 themselves???/
