If they all sign up for the Elite Program that is $81,000 in the program's pocket! Congrats to a POWER house program! If anyone knows how hard Jerry Best worked to be a 4X state champ and 3X NCAA Champ day in and day out ...............hourly he would be making pennies....He can charge it because he is worth it and now his titles are going to PROVE IT! Congrats Allen Eagles keep winning and you will keep hearing the crying it means your doing something correct!

Actually $9,000 in registrations dues...Good for TXUSA as well...Good for Wrestling in general...

Anonymous Coward 2 years ago

Definitely 90 wrestlers there and if not extremely close to it, all Allen kids to fyi

90 wrestlers? 2 years ago

More promotion for Best Trained, more exposure which increases potential for move-ins. Lord, if 90 wrestlers in fact were there on first night (likely an exageration), that's $12-13K in membership dues.

Anonymous Coward 2 years ago

None of Allen's wrestlers fall into the loss of Eligibility rule. They are no different than any other high school in the Nation. People just want to make excuses for why Allen is winning and not their team. It comes down to hard work and dedication. That is the wonderful thing about wrestling, it does not discriminate! It doesnt matter how big and strong you are or how small and skinny, wrestling is for all shapes and sizes and I know it is cliche but "the harder you work, the harder it is to lose..." Best trained started freestyle practice tonight and there were 90 wrestlers in the room. What is everyone else doing? Not bragging....Just stating the facts!

Where do you find that if you hold back in the 7th or 8th grade you loose a year of eligability?
I can find that rule no where.

Section 445: REPEATING GRADES FOR ATHLETIC PURPOSES

(a) LOSS OF ELIGIBILITY. A student held back in the seventh or eighth grade for athletic purposes shall lose one of his or her four years of high school eligibility for each year he or she is held back for athletic purposes.

(b) LOSS OF FOURTH YEAR. A student held back one year in the seventh or eighth grade for athletic purposes shall lose his or her fourth year of eligibility after entering the ninth grade.

(c) LOSS OF THIRD AND FOURTH YEARS. A student held back for two years in the seventh or eighth gradefor athletic purposes shall lose both the third and fourth years of eligibility after entering the ninth grade.

Texas Coach 2 years ago

Allen is a clean program. I'm a coach that competes with them on a regular basis and Coach Best may not be a fan favorite, but he is not a cheater. The man likes to win and he does, but he isn't going to cheat to do it. Great job with your team coach. It is only going to make Texas wrestling better. No everybody needs to quit complaining and get to work, or we are never going to catch up to Allen.

You just said that PIERCE AND TROTTER have been held back and BO is th same age as all the other freshman but has BO been held back. HOW MANY MORE ??????

What he said VVVV

The held back thing.... 2 years ago

Yall are ridiculous. Oliver Pierce was held back in the 6th grade... Do you think he really did it because of coach best? You're a complete idiot if you think so. Trotter was held back long before his family even decided to move to Allen, not just for wrestling, but to give thier son a better opportunity. Nick Cobb just turned 16 a couple weeks before the state meet making him a young sophmore. Bo Nickal is the age of every other freshman. Ophir Bernstein was a little younger than the average senior. Get your facts right, Allen isn't bishop lynch.

No you would not loose your eligibilty.8th grade is not high school you IDIOT.ask any high school coach or call the UIL.
If you get held back in th 7th or 8th grade you lose a year of eligibility because it's middle school, elementary wouldn't matter

Anonymous Coward 2 years ago

i said id be in the 8th grade moron
Which means your held beack?

You guys saying that everyone in Allen got held back in the 8th grade are idiots. ( I don't even go to Allen btw). But really do you know how stupid that sounds? The state and district wouldn't even allow you to get held back in the 8th grade or you would lose a year of eligibility in high school.

Anonymous Coward 2 years ago

im 15 barely 15 and a sophmore and i gaurantee that if i went to allen id be in the 8th grade right now

Hey coach how many parents have you talked to into letting there kids to be held back in the 8th grade. I guess that is the ALLEN WAY. I hope the UIL will look at this.
Tell me exactly who got held back in the 8th grade?

Good job, a whole region beat two of ONE team's wrestlers. A team full of national level wrestlers. No one schooled anyone. At all. If anything you can consider Rico and Roberts when they were freshman and sophmores. Think about it , they were no where close to Pierce or Bo. They wouldn't even belong on the same mat if you want to consider their skills at the age of the Allen boys. Sounds like someone needs to get laid and stop jacking off over Allen's 2 losses.
I totally agree. You put it into the best words.

How can anyone say Jerry best put Texas wrestling on the national map,he red shirts his 8th graders ,state duels 2010 has his 130 lbs wrestler fake a injury for 6 points,to only defeat Randall by one point, disagree's every officials calls..Randall schooled Allen two years in a row '"come on man" Texas panhandle wrestling has ruled all those team Monday kids and Jerry best kids from youth. Allen High is as big a 5A school as there is in Texas,Randall high Graduates less than 500 students each year...go figure.. Kudos to West Texas for schooling Allens two best wrestlers!!!!
How can anyone say Best has not put Texas on the national map. Of course he did not do that himself, but is a big contributor. His team is ranked in the top 40 in the nation, they have to travel outside of Texas to get matches because most teams in state will not wrestle them. Randall has a good team, but don't piss on Allen's success. Best works those kids hard all year long and they are ready to wrestle. If you think there are some inequities with the one class system, lobby the UIL to form multiple clases. Just don't be sore about another team's success. Their success has raised the bar in Texas. Flower Mound put up over 125 point in the state tournatment, and would have won it most years. I am not from Texas, but the quality of wrestling I saw over the weekend was outstanding in the semis and finals. There are about 5-6 high caliber wrestlers in each weight class that can compete with other states. Texas needs to get more depth and they'll be right there with the "power house" states.

No, Rockstar is what has helped the flo mo team.

ummm 2 years ago

not alone but he contributed a lot to there success obviously. some more peoople deserve some recognition for the team besides best. that booster club is a large portion of it. and the youth program, someone is coaching tht. but he is behind it all and deserves a lot of credit

Rockstar? 2 years ago

I beleive you're full of , take all the credit you want, but this man alone put Texas Wrestling on the map nationally

Not only did Coach Best build up the number 1 team in the state of Texas, he also built the number 2 team up from no where. He trained Flower Mound's 4 best wrestlers since they were about 10 years old
