I think the reactions some of you had to this match are an indication of our over-competitive culture. It seems like kids can't have fun or make mistakes anymore. Society makes them too busy by telling them they have to be the champion or #1 in their class. Competition is good, but not when it's the only component that gets attention. The human growth and enjoyment associated with wrestling is of greater value than any win. When people compromise their morals for the sake of pride or success they should reconsider their priorities. To see what I mean, you don't have to look any further then the comments below. |

Move on

The match is over now. My guess is Lepkowsky isn't dwelling on it, he's probably looking to the future. Anybody that takes it out on Sutton or any other wrestler needs to realize that it's not the athletes' fault. If anything, the problem is politics. If you view politics in wrestling as a problem, like I do, then as a competitor, referee, spectator, etc. don't encourage politics. Focus on maintaining wrestling in it's purest sense. Booing kids (that's right, these are kids... not even out of high school yet) is unacceptable. |

LI should leave the state. All we do is pay your taxes so you can live in trailer parks and steal state titles. The call was revenge for the 285lbs semis match because a section XI (rightfully) stalled out a section III kid in the OT period. The mat judge in the 140lbs final was from section III. "LI rocks" is right. A little raw with comments but he is still right. |

Long Island Rocks

Upstate is jealous of Long Island because of the fact we have soap, shampoo, showers, and education. We also understand the value of clean clothing, and our women are far superior in beauty and grace than those cows and wannabe communists you call women. Lepkowsky was screwed because the mat judge was from Section III and that fat kid that never took a shot at 285lbs in the semis lost for a stall call he rightfully deserved that was given by a Section XI ref. It was revenge because you guys suck at wrestling. Lepkowsky won the match end of story. |

Long Island are a bunch of scumbags its no secret they have a billion wrestlers to choose from and then brag about winning really think about it if other sections had those numbers Long Island would be lucky to get a takedown this Long Island wrestler looks bigger than 140 but then again refs have been paid off before LI marty get a life everyone laughs at you |

Steve Sutton

I'm his brother. Not his father. I'm not going to respond further to this nonsense. Just showed a friend my brothers match and saw there is still talk going on. It was a close call timing wise but the criteria was there for a reversal, if not definitely an escape. Also he had a close call for a takedown a few seconds earlier that was called out even though Connor was in bounds. Seconds earlier they call a stalemate when Connor is hitting his boot scoot. Connor was in tremendous shape, is an awesome kid, and is well loved in the wrestling community throughout LI and the state. If, hypothetically, all you said were true and we continue to ignore the calls that went against Connor, all Lepkowsky would get is another OT period. Just don't try to paint it as highway robbery and make up things about every ref in the place apologizing to you. That is silly to consider that every ref would line up to beg a random internet junkie for forgiveness. |

You should defnitely hate on people who boo high school kids on the podium, no matter what happened. Some parents need to grow up and stop living vicariously through their kids. |

I remember the Nickerson-Sutton final what robbery I think the ref just wanted an 8th grader to win or something it was not even a one count on back points Steve Sutton should have won so Section 2 was owed this one stop all the garbadge Connor is a better wrestler anyway |

Mr. Sutton, how can you defend the call? Hate on LI people for booing the podium, hate on LI people for writing posts, hate on LI people for always winning the section title.... |

You clearly have a limited knowledge of the sport. Typical takes childish shots at LI wrestlers. Face they are just better. You probably never made it to the states. I know your type, one move, big mouth, lives through others.. . Grow up, what is done is done, but if you want to learn about the sport, TheTruth is right, watch the match on HudsonValley wrestling, Lepkowsky never loses control, Sutton hips over but his hands are on the mat, he never gains control, the buzzer, come on, if anything it was 1. I was on the floor when every ref there told the two refs in the match, "you guys really blew that call". It's not about one kid better than the other, both these kids are studs, they were in the finals. It's about following the rules....now go learn them. |
