The New York State Tourney has such rich tradition and some wars that have been going on since the late "60s. This year is no exception some of the TOP ranked wrestlers in the USA will be competing for one of the toughest medals ever sought- a NYS Championship. The amount of quality depth in both DI -DII this year is making everyone take notice. FLO is no exception and we will supply you with quarter- semi and Final coverage in both Divisions.

Fine maybe there is no correlation between divisions, and college programs. However, there may be a correlation between a state?s divisions and colligate participation and success. Pa has had more success at the national level in college than any other state. Yes Pa may just have something in the water, and yes Ca may just not have something in the water. The ?asinine? argument is that one division will improve wrestling?s popularity, and benefit the sport. Yes having one division may actually help to drive the intensely passionate wrestler; however, the world is not made up of intensely passionate athletes. Therefore, we must allow more opportunities for athletes to be successful; in order to, increase participation in our sport to further our sports popularity with the general population. This increase in popularity may bring our sport to the forefront that sports like football, basketball, and baseball already have. Motivated wrestlers will always be motivated. Football players and other athletes may never become interested in our sport. Hence the dilemma of popularity among mainstream athletics.

Ny is the nation's third most populated state. States that have smaller populations are using a four division system. This is bad. Ny uses 2 divisions. This is positive for the sport. Ca uses one and is the nation's most populated state. This discourages wrestlers from putting extra time into wrestling as opposed to other sports. The evidence of this is in Ca's lack of strong college programs. For a kid in Ca it is hard to fathom that he may one day be a state champ unless he really has passion for the sport. If we continue to allow more opportunities for kids to be successful in their respective states, then it will encourage more kids to participate in the sport. However, shrinking state competition and lower opportunities for kids to be successful will decrease interest in the sport. We need to do what is best for the sport of wrestling and not what is best for the hard core fan. Growth in our sport is direly needed. Pa and Ohio have many divisions. Wrestling is king in those states. Why hurt our sport when we can strengthen it?

ONE Tourney -MULTIPLE REPS.....makes sense to everyone except those who carry "bias"....toward LARGE-SMALL....these kids ALL wrestle together all year.BTW- I will be UPLOADING semis and finals tomorrow morning. Hotel Internet very very slow. I will do it at home.Marty

Each division had 4 mats for quarter finals, we had 2 cameras on division 1 quaters and 1 camera on division 2 quarters... quarters literally just got over and we will have matches posted tonight.
