Great job getting that coverage. I want to hate Iowa, but how can I after seeing Toms eyes boiling with energy right there, keeping his composure and quickly giving thoughtful answers.....go flo.....love it. |

Great insight Joe. Thanks for being there man! Its unreal how much the Iowa guys believe in their program and their training to not just beat guys they aren't supposed to but they ran it up on them. Anyone who isn't sold on wrestling being a big "mental" sport you just got your proof. 200% belief in something can accomplish anything. |

I wish Brands could get the Russians to come and wrestle an 7 minute Folkstyle dual against IA, instead of our guys wrestling those two minute (or is it three) Freestyle bouts overseas :)Which is why we need to export folkstyle overseas and eventually make it an olympic sport. If folkstyle can grow in other countries, look for more foreign wrestlers to move to the U.S. and wrestle in college here. More people coming to the U.S. to wrestle in college means more college wrestlers, more college wrestlers means more college programs. |

love this for one reason...Tom Brands wants to smile so bad you can see it he almost cracks at the end...but even the he just showed why Iowa was the best again and to never doubt them he will not crack a full smile...even after beating penn state in their house when penn state was ranked number one and Iowa was "rebuilding"...but he wont full on smile because he can't show that he or anyone involved with Iowas program is human...they are terminators with the same thing on their mind...score,handfight, move forward, don't stop and of course win...it is just great because you almost see the slightest inclanation that he could be human...but still he answers all the questions the way a typical Iowa coach or competitor would...i was laughing throught out the enitre video because you can see him almost crack the full smile a few times...tom brands is a great coach and Iowa just proves the greateness and traditon in their progrma with this win |

i was watching it on big ten and you could tell that iowa took the crowd out of it, it was quiet in that place for most of the dual, thats huge, you could just tell that everyone thought that this was going to be a walk in the park, they were whited out im sure there like, well beat them easily and its going to be crazy, and mcdonough or however you spell it with the fall right away that started it off and you had matches that went iowas way, penn state was national champions on saturday and the hours leading up to the dual no one was going to touch them this year exept maybe cornell, that pissed iowa off there the national champs, so i dont know ,its another win for iowa is it a huge win yeah but they have to move on cant look back at this got a bigger prize and thats another championship |

just like Coach Chuck Noll after the Steelers 3rd super bowl win, he said we are not at our peak yet, we can still improve, we are not going to celebrate and drink champagne we are going to work harder to get better for our next competition. It is rumored that he had a practice the following tuesday to get his team ready for what would be their 4th super bowl title. Too many people are satisfied with each victory and lose sight of their ultimate aim at a perfection that never really occurs, if we shoot for 100% and we score 90 and the 2nd place scores 77, yeah we beat their score but we did not reach our own goals so we have to continue to work harder. If your goal is to be an all american then set your goals to be an olympian and placing and winning at nationals will just be a stepping stone to where you have to be. Too many youth wrestlers set their goals too low and celebrate mediocrity too much. In USA wrestling i believe we need to continue to follow Iowa's lead and set our goals, work ethics, and mind sets on a much higher plane to start succeeding on a higher level. |

I was at the match and could easily feel the tide turning from "on paper" predictions to "oh my, Brands is going to have his team pull this off" even before the match started and then after 133 and 141 I think no one could deny what was happening before our very eyes. 30 years or so of being in these situations all through Coach Gable's career seemed to flow right through Coach Brands and his Hawkeye wrestlers. I took my team to his camp this summer and could see the results in their training style throughout the offseason paying off in a huge way in this particular dual. Someone like Marion wrestling in his first official match of the season and seemingly in superior shape than Alton who was 24 - 2 at the time was a huge indication of this. However, I am sure Coach Sanderson will learn from this and he and the Lion wrestlers will pick up the pace and finish as strong as possible. This was a great match for college wrestling, period! |

I saw this coming knowing how sick Iowa trains coming off of Midlands break. 2 months in Iowa's room is like 1 year in everyone elses. They have beasts who are there year round post college. They have 2 Brand brothers who would make a Drill Instructor seem like a walk in the park. They have the mystique of Gable and his occassionally showing up. |

Good job to Iowa, they definitely looked more prepared, but talk about fans! Everyone is saying "where are the PSU fans now?" My question is "where were all you Iowa backers before Sunday?" Iowa gets the dual win and now "Brands is the man" again, and you all "knew this would happen" blah blah blah. It's a dual meet, it would be awesome for PSU to have won but who cares about it? The national title has nothing to do with it. There are several teams with better tourney wrestlers than Iowa and PSU is one of them, and after NCAA's all you band jumpers will be back to "Iowa was rebuilding, that's why they took 6th at nationals" - shut up.We are right here where we've always been. Where were all these PSU fans the last ten years? We don't have to make predictions; we just wait and yell real loud while Iowa performs. |

PSU reminded me of Brad Wesley and his sidekick" Jimmy" and Iowa was DALTON. Wesley and crew (PSU) ran roughshod beating up on a lot of defenseless townfolk until the REAL sheriff arrived...DALTON (Iowa). in the movie, the Double Deuce was saved, last nite in the real world, Iowa's namesake was preserved. Hopefully, this dose of medicine keeps the PSU honks quiet for at least a week,l they were becoming quite nauseating. |
